He's ran a decent race and made his point. He should get out by Friday and and if he doesn't want to endorse Arnold, signal to his supporters to back the candidate who denies the Democrats continued one party control of California.

It's a good thing Tom is staying in.
If Schwarzenegger or Davis wins, no harm done.
If Bustamante wins, the country will get a real preview
that it desperately needs of what is coming to the
entire US if we don't act to stop illegal immigration.
If McClintock wins, that's great!
In any case, McClintock holds true to his word,
unlike Bush I or Bush II, and becomes what you are
obviously trying to ensure does not exist - a
Republican who can be trusted to keep his word
to conservatives.

Duh. Of course they want him to stay in. Why? So he can allegedly divide the Republican vote and their fool Busty can win.

Q32: Tom McClintock has been under pressure from some
Republican leaders to drop out of the race to consolidate the
Republican vote behind Arnold Schwarzenegger. McClintock
argues that he should stay in the race to give voters a choice.
What do you think? Regardless of your vote, should
McClintock drop out of the race to consolidate the
Republican vote behind Schwarzenegger, or should he stay in
the race to give voters a choice? (TWO RESPONSES ROTATED)
Among Likely Voters
LV DEM REP LIB MOD CON WHT LAT
Drop out 36 15 61 11 33 60 39 22
Stay in 58 80 36 84 62 35 55 74

I've come to the conclusion that it's just too late for Tom to get out of the race. Recalling Davis is more important than worrying about the eight percent Tom will likely pull on election day. That being said, Tom should focus all his attention on Davis and Bustamante, and getting the vote out.
However, I find it disturbing that people are trying to make their vote for Tom count in a nonsense manner.. That of making Tom come in second and Bustamante in third. Look, I understand wanting to make something good out of the support they've given Tom, but really, this concept does far more harm than good.

Wow. Like you guys weren't petty and vicious enough already. Now that it's becoming obvious that your Chicken Little predictions were wrong about McClintock's candidacy spoiling Arnold's run, your egos can't handle not getting the chance to say "I told you so," so you're becoming nastier than ever. No wonder the Republican party is in its death throes in California. Between the cowardice, hysteria and malice exhibited towards McClintock and those willing to give him a shot these last few weeks, it's obvious that the party is rotting from the inside at an astonishing pace.
