Project members are mostly men and in their 20s and 30s. Many own small businesses and half of them have a university degree, with 18% possessing doctorates and 40% earning more than £40,000 a year.
But it's all about sex, drugs and guns. Right.

When I first read about FSP, it sounded like a wonderful proposal to return to the original intent for life under the U.S. Constitution.
You're right, it's degenerated already into sex and drugs. But then the young Republic was surely exposed to brothels and alcohol. But the culture of bars, inns and saloons was quite different from one of opium dens.

At the local Dennys, there was to be a meeting of all the people who were gonna move. Half the people refused to attend because the meeting was statist and the other half were to stoned to make it.

Who the heck leaked this, I was going to go to the announcement tomorrow just to see the spectacle. Now I already know the end of the movie.

"A British member, Matthew Hurry, a 24-year-old computer technician from Brighton,
was already preparing to move to the chosen state. "It's one of the few good ideas I've
seen actually put into practice with a good chance of success. Freedom is important for
people, and the western world is severely lacking in it," he said. What makes a foreigner like you think you can move to America and intrude
on our politcal landscape? Only Mexican foreigners are allowed to do that.

And WHERE does he think freedom is greater?

My best advice to the Staters:
Buy lots of long underwear and a good battery for the car.
It will take awhile for the natives to accept you.
Wages are basically low. Don't expect the good life. But for all that it is a very good life....like going back 20 years. It's still family oriented, they still discipline their children. They're basically good, salt of the earth types with a few real dussies thrown in...mostly Canadian migrants of 80 years ago.
I'm glad someone is going to stop the lefty direction that they state is sliding into. We can thank Massachusetts emigres for that. Lot's of cool Mass folks too...don't tar them all with the same brush.
I'm envious. I enjoyed living there.

C-SPAN said they will have a camera there for the announcement, 10:00AM BUMP.

You forgot rock & roll. But quite a few of us are also either veterans of military service or current active-duty military personnel, including what I believe to be a few more of the female members of the group than would be the usual representation in such a cross-section. Several of the *both spouses* porcupine families are composed of a husband and wife who are both serving in the military.
A couple of such situations in which one of the two [or both!] is now on duty in Iraq or Afghanistan caused a problem or two in getting their votes for the state selection made via proxy. But the Porcupines are a resourceful lot.
FYI, I'm in my mid-50s, and I've run across fellow FSPers of all ages, so take the view that they're *mostly* 20 or 30-something males with a grain or two of salt as well.
