The war on drugs and the war on private gun ownership are inextricably entwined. Conservatives who are firmly behind the absolute RKBA would do well to see how the drug war is used as an excuse to deny Constitutional rights, and how, inevitably, it will lead to total tyranny and the complete disarmament of the citzenry, all in the name of security, safety, and "crime-fighting". While no sane adult would condone unlimited drug use, we are in danger of losing the Republic in our zeal to control certain behaviors which we may find "offensive". If we are to have some measure of liberty, then we, as a society, must be willing to accept a certain amount of civilian casualty. In a Free Republic, we cannot pass laws that will protect the moron from himself.

"...machine guns that wantonly kill our police officers and children"
I don't want them thar cop-killer guns flooding our streets!
Lock 'em all up. Slow rusting is what they deserve.
When I see a gun smiling at me, I knows in my hart that it's a liar, liar,

We who believe in liberty and the presumption of liberty have the Bill of Rights on our side:
As to gun control, we have the Second Amendment.
As to drug control, we have the Ninth Amendment.

I am with you 100%.
I am tired of 'conservatives' who say that you can own anything that fires lead, but if you smoke anything other than tobacco you deserve to be burned alive along with your children.
Personal freedom is personal freedom. It is not limited to guns and money.
Getting the government out of our lives is not limited to eraseing stupid EPA regulations about 'low-flush' toilets.

One difference worth noting, however:
I've never heard of anyone crossing the center line and crashing their car into another car because their judgement or reaction time was impaired by the influence of a .38 under the seat.

Excellent Post. My question is how do these arguments get more exposure and dissemination? We're living in the era of sound bites for short attention spans, ain't we?
