"combined with the dual puncture wounds from the bite"

Don't all snakes leave dual puncture wounds?

I think most poisonous snakes do leave two punctures but coral snakes simply bite like a non poisonous snake and releases the venom into the bite.

At least that is what I have read, never having any personal experience.

I'll bet if you look hard enough you'll find a "made in china" tag on the snake.

Big deal.. a rattle snake was found on the Mr. Coffee machine in one of break room at the place where I work earlier this week, not my break room, thank goodness. Although, a couple of years ago one was spotted in my building after hours, when I was still there. They brought in a snake sniffing dog, which was able to backtrack the critter and figure out where it had gotten in, but they never did find it.

Don't buy those snakeskin shoes at Walmart with the snake head on the toe.

Almost coughed up a lung on that one, I was laughing so hard.

this was a plot conceived in Texas....

Well, I'm sure the snake was concieved in Texas. We don't import them from Oklahoma or New Mexico you know. We might export a few though.. you want one? The one found on the Mr. Coffee may still be available.

I HATE snakes. Cold, ugly, slimy things that'll bite if the chance presents itself...

Sounds more like a member of the Religion of Peace than a poor self respecting reptile. Snakes usually aren't slimy, BTW, they are usually scaly. I'll admit they aren't my favorite either, but that's probably an inheritance from my Grandmother, who was mighty quick with her hoe when she discovered one of the egg sucking varmits. The snake most always regretted her finding it, although not for long.

I wonder if the snake came from China.....

Nah, a ChiCom snake wouldn't have the common courtesy to give you a warning rattle before it bit you. Snakes only bite things much larger than themselves when they feel threatened, otherwise they only bite things they intend to eat, and don't select food that's much much larger than themselves.

Looks like this guy may have been having some fun with the Wal Martians...

BROWNWOOD, Texas -- A Wal-Mart spokeswoman says a man's account of a rattlesnake bite doesn't add up. Spokeswoman Sharon Webber says the company is still investigating the Monday incident at a Wal-Mart in Brownwood. Douglas Hatchett says a two-foot rattler bit him in the hand when he reached for a pair of shoes on a store rack. He says the snake fell to the floor, where he stomped it to death. Hatchett was taken to Brownwood Regional Medical Center, where he was treated with anti-venom and released. A store official says police told him the snake didn't look freshly killed. Police still have the dead snake in a freezer, but the police chief says no investigation is planned.

Professional courtesy.
