McClintock Advisor Looks to Bible as Basis for Law
LA Times ^ | Sept. 30, 2003 | Scott Glover

John Stoos' writings outline his vision of an anti-abortion city council and other such action by government. The candidate says he was 'not aware' of his aide's writings.

John Stoos, a key advisor in the gubernatorial campaign of Republican state Sen. Tom McClintock, has a dream:

"I dream of the day when a strong Christian majority is elected to a city council somewhere in America. This council could then pass a resolution declaring that abortion is now illegal in their city," Stoos wrote this year in a conservative religious journal.

McClintock, who employs Stoos as his deputy campaign manager and until recently paid him $93,720 a year as his top legislative analyst, said in an interview last week that he was unaware of Stoos' writings.

"I completely disagree," McClintock said, with Stoos' vision of the anti-abortion city council and "completely reject" the idea that the nation's modern laws should be biblical.

Did he lose his way to San Jose & end up in Iran? There they rule according to the Koran. Do we really want to be ruled in the USA by any religion? I don't.

Worse than the Taliban is tarnishing the name of a good man by way of arguments provided by the LA Times.

This is a naked hit-piece on a decent and God-fearing man. Most of it has been aired before. It pops up every several years when some anti-Christian hedonist reporter hears the story.

John Stoos does nothing but good in this state for conservaitves, Republicans and the people of California. He has been one of my closest friends for a dozen years now.

Morain is a coward and he didn't sit down and talk to John, or he wouldn't have written this story in this hateful way.

And this council would be quickly smacked down by every court the case was brought to.

Samuel Rutherford was a GIANT, and so was Blackstone. It is because of them that the USA was formed as a nation of LAWS and not men. Too bad our Republic has been lost. We are now a tyrannical democracy - a nation of men not laws. But it is the fault of the people that we have had wicked leaders and judges because the leaders always reflect the moral values of the people in a Republic.

And AMEN to THAT.

In fact, it bears repeating right here:

I would say that 95% of Americans are ignoramuses when it comes to knowledge of America's Christian roots and heritage and the faith of the founding fathers. They have been dumbed down and lied to by the secular humanist LIARS.

SPOTREP - He is in good company, since 34% of all quotes in the writings of the Founders are from the Bible.

You are right - I should have read the entire article. I don't know what he means by his comment, however. However, I will know consider voting for Diane Templin - constitution party. I can't vote for a man that doesn't understand the basis of law, even if all his other views are correct.

Oh lighten up. Tom said he didn't support a society of Biblical laws, not a society based upon biblical laws. Tom is the closest thing you are ever going to get to an ideal Chrsitian lawmaker. You should also pay attention to the fact that people like Stoos ARE on his staff.

No one in Sacramento understands the history of law in the Western World better than Tom McClintock.

Does the abortion issue really belong in the political and legal system, or remain an issue of personal morality?

Yep.

He's "the only choice" of Christian conservatives -- who's shocked at the idea of applying the Bible.

He's "the only choice" of pro-lifers -- who says he intends to INITIATE NO CHANGE to the status quo on abortion.

Go figure.

Over the past two decades, Stoos has been an activist on issues from abortion to gun control to the primacy of the English language in the United States. Many of his views are reflected in essays in the Chalcedon Report, published by a conservative religious organization in Calaveras County. The group envisions a society in which biblical law is the law of the land.

"I was not aware that he was writing for this journal and I'm upset to find that out," McClintock said Friday in an interview at the Sacramento airport, between campaign appearances. "That disturbs me greatly."

Uh huh - right, Tom. How much money have you been getting from Ahmanson?

In 1995, Stoos was quoted in a Northern California newspaper as saying that Jews "would not have total acceptance" in the Christian-based society he envisioned, and that though they would nevertheless be tolerated, they "would feel more at home" in Israel.

Another gem.

Let's hear from all of the "McClintock is the only principled conservative in the race" posters respond to that.

I won't register with the slimes in order to read the entire article, but I imagine TM said what he said because he is an elected representative of a state in the US, not an ancient theocracy.

I see no inconsistency.

I will know [sic; "now"] consider voting for Diane Templin - constitution party. I can't vote for a man that doesn't understand the basis of law, even if all his other views are correct.

Here's why I am pinging all of you to this.

I have often said, IF the motivation of the scorched-earthers IS ONLY to vote for THE MOST CONSERVATIVE candidate, they should vote Constitution Party.

Now we know the name of their candidate. Diane Templin, then, will be THE MOST CONSERVATIVE candidate.

So now it is in the court of the scorched-earthers-for-McClintock:

Diane Templin
is likely THE MOST CONSERVATIVE candidate
If winning means nothing, and
If principles are all that matter
HOW can you defend NOT VOTING for HER?

Amen again.

Much of what exmarine states here can be found upon your own research, or if you would like to get it all in an incredible source of chronological historical fact, you might try and get a copy of Peter Marshall's book 'The Light and the Glory'.

The sad thing is that our Founders WARNED us what would happen if We the People became lax in our religious duty and heritage, what would happen if we ever forgot to be vigilant of our liberties, what would happen if we relinquished our Sovereign Rights to others.

Then again they too understood scripture, and KNEW how God deals with nations of His People that forget Him and go their own wicked ways. (Proverbs 1:24-32)

For a true wake-up call to what fate awaits us in America (aside from the lessons of history), read the entire book of Lamentations in the OT, and replace the words Israel/Jacob with 'America' - and see if those warnings don't apply to us today.
