McClintock Advisor Looks to Bible as Basis for Law
LA Times ^ | Sept. 30, 2003 | Scott Glover

John Stoos' writings outline his vision of an anti-abortion city council and other such action by government. The candidate says he was 'not aware' of his aide's writings.

John Stoos, a key advisor in the gubernatorial campaign of Republican state Sen. Tom McClintock, has a dream:

"I dream of the day when a strong Christian majority is elected to a city council somewhere in America. This council could then pass a resolution declaring that abortion is now illegal in their city," Stoos wrote this year in a conservative religious journal.

McClintock, who employs Stoos as his deputy campaign manager and until recently paid him $93,720 a year as his top legislative analyst, said in an interview last week that he was unaware of Stoos' writings.

"I completely disagree," McClintock said, with Stoos' vision of the anti-abortion city council and "completely reject" the idea that the nation's modern laws should be biblical.

Did he lose his way to San Jose & end up in Iran? There they rule according to the Koran. Do we really want to be ruled in the USA by any religion? I don't.

Why does he completely reject the idea that a nation's modern laws should be biblical? I am afraid this illustrates Mr. McClintock's lack of understand of the law. Common law in the United States is based on the common law in England which is based directly on the Bible. I guess McClintock will now suggest we do away with common law.

One more reason to vote for McClintock. Our founding fathers ALSO believed that the bible was the basis for Law. It comes from John Rutherford (Lex Rex) and William Blackstone, who both said that divine law is the basis for ALL law. Sadly, they have replaced Blacktone's commentaries in law schools and replaced them with Oliver W. Holmes (moral and legal relativist).

I would say that 95% of Americans are ignoramuses when it comes to knowledge of America's Christian roots and heritage and the faith of the founding fathers. They have been dumbed down and lied to by the secular humanist LIARS.

Let's hear from all of the "McClintock is the only principled conservative in the race" posters respond to that.

LAW IS KING. Are you listening liberals? Are you listening all of your elected reps who do not honor your oath to the U.S. Constitution? LAW IS KING! Repeat that as a mantra until it sinks in.

Why is this a reason to vote FOR McClintock, if he rejects the idea of biblically-based laws? I am very disappointed in Tom.

Yep, that's what McClintock says!

I don't get why some people get hysterical over the mention of Biblical Values. Certainly better than no values. People need to quit taking themselves to fricken seriously.

More people have no clue as to where common law came from. Do they think someone woke up 230 years ago and said "Hey I thinks killin' iz baad" then made a law?

Even less people understand the 1st Amendment. Or have probably ever read it.

You already know all this.

Samuel Rutherford. Then he was under "house arrest" for a number of years.

You are right - I should have read the entire article. I don't know what he means by his comment, however. However, I will know consider voting for Diane Templin - constitution party. I can't vote for a man that doesn't understand the basis of law, even if all his other views are correct.

Very similar to the Arnold/Buffett disagreement in a way. People have disagreements, that's ok, if everyone in your organization thinks exactly like you then your name is Jim Jones.

By "biblical laws", is Stoos also advocating the death penalty for unruly children, adulterers & homosexuals?
