Word For The Day
Monday, September 29, 2003 | Slip 18

Posted on 09/29/2003 7:20:58 AM PDT by Slip18

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Subbie Slip is watching you. She has a large telescope with her today. She will be yanking you out of class and into the Janitor’s closet if you are evil, and then maybe sending you off to the Principal’s office to refresh your memory on the usage of his learning stick. And, yes, the paddle has those wondrous holes in them.

flatulence noun:
Pronunciation: flat’u-lens Etymology: Flatus – Latin “ a blowing”

Excessive gas in the stomach and intestines.

Good Morning Class. Welcome to School!

Now, Vast and xsmommy, play nicely in here today with all the other students! Flurry, you behave yourself, otherwise Nurse Helga will take care of your flatulence in a not so nice way.

I heard Principal Robinson is roaming the halls today, so all of you students be on your best behavior.

You must use the WFTD in a sentence for an A. For a + after your “A,” you must bring in a link of the word usage or something funny, a poem or some prose that will elucidate the word for us.

If you need to know how to link, come to the Subbie’s desk in the front of the class.

Mornin', everybody ! Happy Monday !

I went to a Meek-Truett family reunion. Jerry Truett is a minister and ramrods the arrangements for the civic center, etc.

Have you ever seen anyone play a cross-cut saw before ?? Well, Jerry did. He was playing "How Great Thou Art" when I took this picture. The sound from this gizmo is amazingly nice ...

I normally don't let it get to me - but there was just something about this one that really irked me.

The Earth's atmosphere is approximately one percent methane, principally as a result of bovine flatuence. That's cow farts to those of you in Loma Linda. Just to raise the level of discourse, you see.

Wow! 400 years? That is a REAL antique, lucky, lucky you.
Hey, if it hasn't been chewed by puppies, gouged by kids or beaten up in various other ways, it isn't a real antique. My kitchen table is a 100+ year old home built oak farm table with a hand chiseled pedestal base and a top made out of what appear to be leftover flooring planks of varying widths. It was sold to me by a friend who found it in the barn of a small ranch she and her husband bought several years ago. She does not like antiques, only modern stuff. After we sanded off about 8 coats of ugly black lacquer, we discovered numerous puncture marks in one small area, like a bored child had poked it with a fork or knife. I didn't attempt to sand them all the way out, and it really does add to the character of the table.

Is this one of our familiar obnoxious twits, or a brand new one? Tinfoil seems more appropriate for the twit, if he doesn't believe what you said. You are quoting facts I have seen here in other articles, not promoting some conspiracy theory.

Then again, Texan seems to enjoy her hard saddle, but I won't hourn in on that subject ...

The person has been around - I've just never enountered him/her before. It was on a thread about lowering the level for being charged with DUI.

In the end instead of being an adult and admitting he was wrong, after it was repeatedly pointed out, both CSM and I got the standard "I'm done playing with you, consider yourself ignored"

ROFL!!!!

I love that song - so does Jax. You should hear the 2 of us when it comes on the radio in the car!!!

When I first heard the song I thought the line was "whiskey for my men, before my horses"!!!!!

Technically speakin,' "Bitchin' Freeze" better describes the PETA owner in Austin who won't exterminate the ants, not her dog.

(Hope she doesn't get termites in that old wooden building of hers. Hint. Hint.)

She certainly couldn't have installed pressure-treated lumber in the frames to protect it against decay and rot.

After he risked his life to blow up the old barn where the rebels were hiding, the squire was immediately promoted by his king.

He took the name, of course, of Sir Launchaloft.
