Good post, I think you are right. Arnold may not be Mr. Right Wing but he is Mr. Right Now. California needs to back away from the edge of the abyss. It is not going to became a conservatve state over night because of this election but it could begin to turn in the right direction.

While Arnie can't win merely by appealing to conservatives, he also can't win unless he does appeal to conservatives. The fault lies with Arnie.

Right on the money.

I've noticed an amazing lack of introspection on this site. If Arnold loses it simply can't be his fault - it must be McClintock's. When GHW Bush lost it was all due to Perot.

It's like listening to a few Penn State fans claim the refs cost us yesterday's game. The refs made one bad call, while our coaches made numerous foolish calls throughout the game. Anyone who can be honest with themselves can see that, but I suppose it's easier to shut your eyes real tight and pretend the world is against you.

Yet, those on the idealistic right are unwilling to fight the real war. All or nothing strategies offer a 50% chance of nothing.

People like buzzyboop live some type of idealized fantasy world. The left has used incrementalism with devasting, incredible success for the last 100 years. But, buzzyboop types, rather than learning from success, still insist on "I WANT IT ALL, NOW". And that's why they are getting ZERO most of the time of keep getting outsmarted by the left.

offer a 50% chance of nothing.

No, in politics, it's usually a 95% chance of nothing.

If Schwarzenegger wants to be governor, he should do what it take to win.

Arnold's doing what it takes. And he will probably win without McClintock pulling out. In the meantime McClintock surely knows by now he's at a distant 3rd. He's doing everything he can to siphon off votes for Arnold and ensure that the GOP loses the governor's seat.

Gee, guess what guys? He is, that's why 50% on this board (very conservative) are supporting him. That's also why a large number of California's GOP conservative leadership are supporting him.

Of course I rely on the actual polls and endorsements to make this statement. Maybe I should rely on nothing like you two and just make stuff up.

Not me.

My absentee ballot goes out Monday with my vote for McClintock.

Warren Buffet was the last straw for me. No amount of talk will clean up that pig as actions speak louder than words.

50% of the people on this board are supporting Arnold because:

1. They're more interested in the illusion of power, by whatever method is available, than fighting to put actual conservatives in power
2. They aren't conservatives
3. They've formed a chat club on the internet and ping their friends to every debate, at which point their primary interest is juvenile debating tactics intended to elect Arnold as an end unto itself

Certainly most are well-meaning, but in my estimation a bit misguided. Hopefully they'll come around soon...

That's also why a large number of California's GOP conservative leadership are supporting him.

#1 and #2 applies equally to that group.

Regards.

I do not understand how so many here can overlook Arnold's own words so completely in the name of "winning".

50% of this board votes for the leader in the polls in every election. Like a Zombie.

Then they come here and argue the issues. Then hope that the leader in the polls shares at least a percentage of what they believe. What a waste of a Republic

They don't "overlook" Arnold's words....truth is, they hold many of his same positions. This forum has changed a lot since it's earlier days. It's taken a strong turn toward the liberal/neo-con persuasion after Robinson's purge of many of the core Conservative members. "Right-wing nuts" as they say. Back in the ealier days....anyone supporting a liberal like Arnold would have been run-out of the forum on a rail. Now they seemingly are the majority here.

Thank you for being the first poster on this thread to post specifics.

I read all the passionate arguments to vote for Arnold because he can win and then I find if he does win, he wants to reduce rights of people to keep and bear arms.

I won't vote for people who "CAN WIN" who promise to take away my rights.

What kind of victory is that?

Where people are fooled is they want a GOP victory so bad, they don't see the GOP has been re-defined by liberals who have hijacked it. They really want the OLD GOP to win but the candidates they support are far different in philosophy than those of that OLD GOP.

Schmooze is in more hip pockets than a watch on a chain.

"Schooze is in more hip pockets than the Artful Dodger on a good day" would have been more apropos since watches on chains aren't kept in hip pockets and don't have anything to do with thievery.

At least he's honest. Your beloved Bob Riley broke a no new taxes pledge. I'd rather have someone who didn't break his word as our Governor.

You continue to completely misjudge the majority here who support Arnold (like me) and the reason they do. Why is that when we keep explaining why? Do you want to know the truth or just keep mumbling "stuff" that makes you happy?

The majority here who support Arnold DO NOT agree with some of his liberal positions. Got that?! DO NOT, repeat DO NOT. They are not secret closet liberals as you keep claiming. That's nonsense.

Most who support Arnold that the "I WANT ALL OR NOTHING NOW" philosophy of you guys is a LOSER'S strategy that does ZERO for really getting conservative policies actually implemented, rather than just discussed.

Most of us choose not to live in a fantasy world of make-believe. "Gee, all of these moderates and independant will vote for a hard core conservative."

Most of us actually believe Reagan's words that it was better to get some of what you believe in today and live to fight for the rest tommorow.

Since I do not have a horse in this race it really does not matter what I think about Arnold.

I was talking to the other poster about how some Conservatives would rather throw the baby out with the bath-water, and therefore NEVER get anything accomplished .

You obviously disagree and that is your right.

When Jim Robinson disapproves of me enough, I am sure he will let me know. Until then, I am going to assume that I am as welcome here as anyone else.

So thing how big Arnold's will if Riley would
go for a record in Alabama after saying he cut
spending instead of raising taxes!

What I have noticed here though is the very people claiming Ahnold a RINO view 'W" as a "true conservative"!

True...they were nuts...now those of us donning tin-foil do it to purely invoke humour.
