Entire Italian power supply cut
From correspondents in Rome
September 28, 2003
POWER went out across Italy before dawn, police and news reports said, plunging the nation into darkness. Authorities did not immediately know the cause.
Reports of power outages started to come in around 4am local time (11am AEST) in Rome, where the city was celebrating an all-night party, with museums and restaurants open around the clock.
Later, the national electricity company ACEA said power was out across the nation, the ANSA news agency said.
"As far as we know it's all across Italy," police official Franca Sesti Miraglia said in Rome.
"We don't know the cause yet," she said.

Did they practice on the U.S. North East last month, only to go to Italy for the full effect?

This is getting wierd. A week doesn't go by without 1 or 2 countries being hit by power outages.

Are they practicing for GREECE - where the Olympic games will be held - not sure what the date is - but I think it's the summer games of 2004.

You do know that that linked article was from 2 years ago, right? Anyway it shows that there was a case of recent sabotage on Italy's power supply-the reason for posting it. No hype intended on my part.

By the way, seeing as you are not a long time follower of these Balkan events--that Greek power pylon was about to go live just before the sabotage.
