FOR LT. GOV. Cruz Bustamante, there apparently is no such thing as illegal immigration.

Asked at Wednesday night's gubernatorial debate, how much he would spend on health care for the children of illegal immigrants, Bustamante gave no dollar amount, of course. But he was clear on this: He does not believe the state should distinguish between legal and illegal immigrants.

If we had an actual free press instead of simply an adjunct to the DNC, some reporter would ask guys like Bustamante whether they think we should have national borders, or bother with making non-Hispanic immigrants go through all that red tape to become legal residents. And if I were a legal immigrant, I would immediately sue the INS on the grounds that they're violating my constitutional right to the equal protection of the law (or, in this case, the right to ignore the law entirely).

Bustamante told reporters, "I think that anybody who works and pays taxes ought to have a right to citizenship."

Interesting...NO taxes, NO citizenship, NO vote!

The reason we have a crisis in health care is because we are effectively providing health care to every person in Mexico, Guatemala, etc - all they have to do is cross the border, go to the hospital, get treated, and go back across the border. When and if THEY become the majority I bet they will have NO compassion for American citizens and THEIR children's health care.
