DENVER - The NFL has fined the Denver Broncos (news) for wearing the wrong uniforms in a game against San Diego, and it fined wide receiver Rod Smith (news) for accidentally hitting an official, according to published reports.
The Broncos were fined $25,000 for wearing white uniforms Sept. 14 against San Diego, even though Denver had agreed beforehand to wear dark uniforms, The Denver Post reported Friday.
Smith was fined $20,000 for striking umpire Undrey Wash during Monday night's 31-10 win over Oakland, The Post and the Rocky Mountain News reported. Smith got tangled with Raiders defensive tackle Chris Cooper after a 6-yard reception and took a wild swing that struck Wash.
Both newspapers cited an unidentified league source in reporting the fines.

They should have fined the Broncos for signing Jake Plummer. He's such a spare.

I don't care much for Jesse Jackson, but I have to admit that his tactics are effective.

hey... Jake comes from my state (Idaho) I watched him play at Capital HS. He far-to-middlelin as a QB, though. Has potential.

Makes me wonder why we can't get dress codes in our schools. Have you seen how those attending public schools dress these days? It's pathetic.

Oh, that's right . . . . Jake "The Snack" Plummer
Gotta admit - that was funny.

They should have fined the Broncos for signing Jake Plummer.Obviously you missed this past Monday Night Football featuring the Broncos & Raiders. Plummer did a great job ... if he continues to play this way for the rest of the season he'll be playing in the All Star game in Hawaii. Broncos are 3 & 0 for the season & Plummer started all 3 games.

Actually, I watched the entire game. My warning to Bronco fans is to get ready for the most inconsistent QB in the NFL.
One week he's Joe Montana, the next he's Joe Schmuck.

Maybe they can give the money to Clarett so that he'll go away.

Well Adrian, I think the NFL should fine Denver for their ugly uniforms. That slash of orange on the jersey is sooooo tacky and those helmets! It all says "bargain basement" to me.

One week he's Joe Montana, the next he's Joe Schmuckcoming from the Cardinals it musta been hard to be great. If Joe Montana can show up more often then Joe Schmuck, they'll do okay this year.
Anyways I don't really care. I'm a Rams fan from wayyyyyyyy back (John Arnett, Jack Snow, Fred Dryer, Merlin Olsen days (50's to present day)

My warning to Bronco fans is to get ready for the most inconsistent QB in the NFL.Frankly, as a long time Bronco fan, I would like to have Gannon as the Denver Bronco QB. However, it ain't a perfect world, so I'm behind Plummer. If Plummer gets "iffy", or injured, Beurlein (sp?) is a capable back up who is well thought of by Shanahan. There's an excellent chance the Broncos will be in the play offs this year ... regardless.

Being from St. Louis and a long ago Cardiac Cards fan, Plummer had a terrible organization and owner - Bidwell. I suspect he HAD to pass and it killed his stats and consistency. With the Broncos he doesn't have to make every play. I've been a Broncos fan since 1978 and they are a significantly more professional organization with the desire to win. The owner is a tri-athelete and is on the sidelines for many games. I suspect Bidwell is in some back room trying to figure out how he can get the last dime out of Pheonix. I just wonder how much longer they will put up with him and he decides to move to a new location.

"First the Lions get fined for not interviewing African Americans for the coaching job, and now the Broncos get fined for wearing white uniforms. I don't care much for Jesse Jackson, but I have to admit that his tactics are effective." Boy, THERE'S a non sequitur if ever I saw one. The fine for wearing the white uniforms doesn't have anything to do with race. The Broncs SAID they would wear the blue uniforms but when they arrived in SD, all they had with them were the white (HOME) uniforms. That forced the Chargers to wear their dark (AWAY) uniforms. It is said that Shanahan had the equipment manager ship only the white so as to force the Chargers to wear the heat-absorbing dark uniforms and thereby gain a competitive advantage in the scorching sun.
The Broncos also played with their uniforms on Monday night, showing up for warmups with the dark jerseys and white pantalones. But for the game, they changed from the white to BLUE panalones. Anything to kick the Raidahs off-stride. And it worked. The Raidahs looked like gumps the whole game.
