The Berkley Pub Group who is responsible for all of the Tom Clancy novels says that in the next Clancy film 'Red Rabbit,' (which is the second to last flick in the series) Ben Affleck will not be in it.
Seems they've been told by a colleague at a company called Artists Production Group that the studio is not going to use Ben Affleck because of his poor box office record as of late. ('Gigli')
Now they are trying to find a new Jack Ryan, with Tom Cruise and David Duchovny of 'X Files' coming up as contenders.
An even bigger surprise was that the producer who was going to make the new movie, Mace Neufeld, has been replaced by Michael Ovitz and Artists Production Group, which means it will be a 'new look' Jack Ryan movie.
Clancy himself seems to have already tired of the young Jack Ryan idea too, his latest novel returns to the older formula of Jack as President of the US and his son Jack Ryan Jr. becoming involved in a lot of action.

Too late. They already screewed up "Sum of All Fears", my favorite Clancy book.
Anyone how read it knows what I'm talking about.
Nazis my ass. They were arabs.
And Beniffer sucks. I'm glad he's gone.

An even bigger surprise was that the producer who was going to make the new movie, Mace Neufeld, has been replaced by Michael Ovitz and Artists Production Group, which means it will be a 'new look' Jack Ryan movie. Ryan hardly appears in the new book, and Clancy has the Samuel L. Jackson charachter assassinate off camera by a white supremecist, so that he does not have to keep paying him big bucks for a cameo role in future Ryan flicks. The new star of this series will be somebody like Toby McGuire. He's the right age for junior.

I nominate Britney Spears. Acting skills like Ben, but looks a heckova lot better. Heck, she doesn't even have to say a line.

Never saw it. They butchered the novel so badly it didn't seem worth the money. Either bring back Harrison Ford(leave the screwed up politics with Callista), or get an older actor to play the role. Ben Affleck as Jack Ryan was laughable.

Speaking as one short guy about another, Toby Maguire is WAY too short to be Jack Ryan.

Tom Cruise already has Mission Impossble 3 to do with David Fincher, so I think Ovitz is dreaming a little..
