I have a suggestion - now that election day is nearing, why don't we let the California freepers work this stuff out? I think it's out of line for non-California freepers who aren't voting to be starting vanity threads on this subject.

You're right. This is up to California voters.
Good luck, California FReepers. I wouldn't wish Bustamante on a dog pound, let alone your state.

Can't do it. CA has the largest economy in the U.S. and so far it's the california voters that have gotten themselves in this much trouble and their problems are moving further into the heartland of the U.S.
This one affects everyone.

Are you in California?

I agree that this is a debate that Californians have the most right to argue. I can definately understand the desire to stand on one's principals, but it's much easier to stand up for principals when it's not your own state that's going down the tubes. You Californians must choose between the Republican that would be the best gov, or the Republican that's most likely to win. My only advise is to remember that many Republicans voted for Ross Perot in 92 as a protest against George H. Bush, and it gave Clinton the election. I hope that you don't give the Dems a victory by voting for McClintock, but that's your choice. We wish you luck.

If a busload of insane asylum inmates is commandeered by one of the wackos, jumps the highway median and heads for you, are you claiming only the deranged driver and the nutjobs on the bus have a right to stop the thing? I live in Nevada. I think Nevadans and other Americans have every right to do whatever we have to to keep you guys from taking us down into the gully with you.
If Arnold dropped out, it is doubtful Tom could pull enough centrist voters to stop them from rejecting the recall. Even if he did win, he will have zero ability to work with a Democrat legislature out to gut conservatives. If Tom pulls out now, he gets to be Senator, and will have immense pull. If he stays, Bustamente could well win, but Arnold is likely to pull a plurality. Either way, Conservatives will be blackballed by moderates. So, take your pick, sunny days ahead or a glorious funeral pyre fed by McClintock self-righteousness.

Let's just cause division amoung freepers. I think it's valid for those not in CA to offer opinions/comment. People actually might gain some insight or wisdom. Ideas even!
Discussions happen all of the time on threads where events happen outside of our own states. We still comment. We still offer opinions. There is not a thing wrong with it.

I agree with you, dirtboy.
I was hot for Arnold, but after watching the debate I'm not sure.
McClintock was the only one to offer solutions. I still don't know what the hell Arnie or the others would do.
Why not have a Free Republic vote, then all of us vote as a block on who wins here?
