Tom McClintock is now an ex Republican Party advocate who is all out for himself against the party.

I will not back him in any attempt against Boxer either. He is a proved traitor to his party and the people of California.

He is not fit to take the lead in walking my dog, much less being trusted with any office ever again.

He's not to be trusted.

Now here is a reply that explains it pretty well:

...the reason the Dems have been thriving in CA for so long, is because Republicans have fought more with one another than Democrats...

Speaking as a life-long Republican who has long volunteered for the party here in the greater Los Angeles area even in between elections, I can attest to just how right you are on this point. The people who typically support a Tom McClintock (or Pat Buchannan, or Alan Keyes, or Ross Perot), are a mix of the ultra hard Right, and single-issue voters (2nd Amendment, pro life, taxes, etc.), and the perpetually disgruntled who are always dissatisfied with "the establishment." They make up roughly 2% to 5% of the electorate during any given election cycle. In a state like California with a very large Dem advantage in voter registrations, that small percent frequently makes a difference in tight local, assembly, and congressional races. They seldom have an impact on statewide and presidential races, however, although the recall is not a typical statewide race.
