Then why is Tom a registered Republican? Clearly he and his supporters despise and want to destroy the Republican party.

How Orwellian.

OK put your feet firmly on the ground and start over again. Check the GOP platform, both in California and nationally. Who in this race supports it? Now lets discuss who is supporting the Republican Party and who is trying to destroy it.

Putting a candidiate with Robert Kennedy Jr. as an advisor in the Governor's office is what will destroy the party as surely as water in the gas tank will destroy your car.

Minority Leader Jim Brulte endorsed rival Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger.

~snip~

Brulte co-chaired McClintock's campaign for state controller last year and raised significant amounts of money for him.

I guarantee you, if Arianna Huffington had tried to reconcile her use of gas-guzzling vehicles by proposing a pipe-dream study of possible hydrogen fuel stations, there would be several threads dedicated to laughing her butt out of the race.

We might also consider who was in this race first, and which of the two candidates has served the CA GOP for 20 years.

But of course, that point has been made to the person in question multiple times. FO is interested in little more than electing Arnold as an end unto itself. All damning evidence is studiously ignored.

My support begrudgingly is for Arnold now.

Tom is on the outside and will not win. I only hope that he will salvage enough support to run a successful campaign for the Senate.

Pete Wilson has made sure that Tom doesn't get any money and I will take Arnold over Cruz.

Will it be bad - yep. But at least we will have a 'progressive' Republican to point to. Arnold will prove what we all have been saying and in the long run it will be good for California and for the nation. Still - G_d help us if Cruz gets into office.

Flame away - but I have been with Tom and have spoken with my pocket book in support of him.

"Never has there been a more important time to heed the advice of Ronald Reagan to paint our positions in bold colors and not hide them in pale pastels. This is no time to change our principles. This is the time to showcase them."

McClintock should stay in. This race should not be between a liberal Democrat and a liberal Republican. If Schwarzenegger bowed out, then McClintock would possibly win. Why doesn't Schwarzenegger quit?

"...Check the GOP platform..."

Good suggestion. I did just that two weeks ago and Arnold is out of step with most of the GOP platform. Just one example is that a week or so ago, he called for a ban on off-shore oil drilling and yet the GOP platform specifically calls for development of our domestic sources of oil and gas, both to lower pump prices and to reduce our dependence on foreign sources, especially OPEC.

I agree. Arnold is the Perot of this campaign and Tom is the only one carrying any substantial part of the GOP platform.
