Although he held the office of the presidency I believe he represented something dishonest and distasteful and would show him no respect. Respect is earned not handed out freely to everyone. Civility, on the other hand, is just polite.

Was that supposed to be some kind of apology ? It was nothing of the sort for making a racial slur.

If you don't make a racial slur, but someone decides to interpret it as such, why should you have to apologize at all? Sad as it may be, in many ways he was right when he said racism was in the eye of the beholder, not in the heart of the speaker.

Democrats are some of the most racist people to rise from the muck on God's green Earth, but they only care about it if they can make it seem as if a Republican is racist. If you don't believe it, I suggest you bone up on some 1940s -1960s history and see what a bunch of racists the Democrats are - they stood in the way of anti-lynching laws and refered to Blacks as "mongrels" etc...

I am pleased as always with the defense of persons that we know are making derogatory statements. It's wrong when Jesse Jackson does it...It is wrong when Robert Byrd does it.... It is wrong when Cruz Bustamante does it. It is wrong when Louis Farrakhan does it...and it is definitely wrong when this person does it also. What I am very concerned with is those who criticize Jesse Jackson
(and he deserves it) every chance possible and not persons that do the same thing but have natural justification for the use of a solarium...

I think it is bad in both cases, but in the case of whites referring to blacks as monkeys, it is clearly taking a position of racial superiority. I'd suggest you are living in denial if you cannot see that.
