SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — U.S. Rep. Bill Janklow, speaking publicly for the first time since he was charged in a deadly crash, said he "couldn't be sorrier" for the August accident that killed a motorcyclist.
The 64-year-old former governor talked about his own injuries from the crash, in which prosecutors said he ran a stop sign at 71 mph and collided with the motorcycle. He told reporters he thinks about his future but doesn't know yet what he'll do.

Its not enough. Bill Janklow thinks being sorry for having killed someone is all it takes to get back to business as usual in Washington. Well that's WRONG! That's the trouble with Washington - where officialdom live by their own set of rules and lord it over the rest of us. If Janklow is really sorry, he will resign his seat and subject himself to the rule of law. The GOP doesn't need or want to be represented by a congresscritter who thinks manslaughter isn't a big deal. Well I do. I am sick and tired of Clintonian ethics and they aren't defensible if a Republican is caught in wrong-doing. Let me spell it out: BILL JANKLOW HAS GOT TO GO!!!

Oh my, I can't go on, I'm afraid I might ruin my keyboard if I cry on it.
I drive fast but I NEVER blow through stop signs.
Here's hoping the S_ofa_B gets a cellmate named Bubba who thinks "he's got a purty mouth" (a la Deliverance).

He's self absorbed, like Bubba. Its all about him, naturally. To think he breathes the same air as the rest of us and befouls our party with his presence - EWWWWWWWWWWW.

Just saw the clip...totally rehearsed and coordinated by 'experts', who told him what to say, how to show remorse, when to cry, etc etc.
Any sympathy I had is now gone. I was waiting for him to say, "I have sinned!"
To: goldstategop
Yep. Exactly. I doubt you'll find many FREEPERS who are going to defend Janklow on the grounds that what he does in his private life is his business, not ours (ala Clinton).
See ya, Janklow.

Janklow the day of the accident was driving a car basically given to him by a friend--a private investgator for his apparant unlimited personal use. As a member of Congress aren't there some ethics implications in this? It's not that the Congressman can't afford a car--he disclosed a week before the accident a net worth of between $3-8 million. I would bet the friend is running the cost of this vehicle plus its insurance through his business--another ethics violation if true.
Janklow has never believed the law applied to him--hence his charge for manslaughter because of his wanton and reckless disregard for human life.
Anyone seeing the news conference and his zombie like appearance would reasonably conclude he is unfit to serve. He needs to resign.

This guy does not have a real clear picture of the employer/employee relationship.

On the radio I heard a clip of him before a group saying (paraphrase) "I know how fast you guys drive too". Oh, gee, no big deal that I killed someone, EVERYONE speeds.
