They denied your claim!? Do you mean they are claiming they never made such statements? Or just that there was nothing wrong with it and it wasn't false?

I think the notion that an FR chapter called for "attacks on minorities that would disrupt", blah blah, is patently absurd. Minorities are a big part of FR, as we all know. Unless the minority they're referring to is "hard core communists plotting attacks on U.S. infrastructure and citizens" - lol. THAT I could see an FR chapter pledging violence against, and I'd be right there with them! But it's still an obvious misrepresentation.

Either way, best of luck! Such a gross defamation absolutely deserves a response this strong.

Actually I'll even take back that much. I can't picture FR pledging direct violence even against hard core communists planning terrorism - but they -would- strongly support law enforcement and a President who did so.

They have denied that they have libeled us and or caused us any harm and deny that we have a valid claim against the city. They're hoping mediation will lead to satisfactory settlement thereby avoiding costly (and embarrassing) litigation (not to mention avoiding a million dollar plus damage award).

I remember getting pretty heated up about this when it happened. I think I was corresponding with Lady in Red at the time of the picnic.

This case, to me , speaks directly to the political manipulation of propaganda which I can not stand, and IMO has to be wiped out.

Been there, done that, rejected arbitrators proposals, and continued on with satisfactory litigation. Don't let the arbitrator wrestle you into an unsatisfactory settlement. Their job is to settle, not to award justice. (And they don't understand big numbers.)

But it's useful to be able to say you attempted arbitration when later appearing before a judge. Also remember, almost everyone in the courtroom is on the public payroll, including the judge, and your suit threatens their public trough.

The first (hopefully last) meeting will be tomorrow morning. We were in favor of the mediator because, if we do not like the settlement, we can refuse to accept it.

We are hoping a reasonable settlement can be reached so this will not drag on in the courts for 2 or 3 years.
