At least one killed in blast near Baghdad U.N. HQ

BAGHDAD, Sept 22 (Reuters) - At least one person was killed in a blast on Monday at a car park beside the United Nations headquarters in Baghdad, Reuters journalists at the scene said. More than 20 people were wounded in the blast near the Canal Hotel, which was targeted by a car bomb attack last month that killed 22 people including the chief of the U.N. mission, Sergio Vieira de Mello. 09/22/03 00:45 ET

Explosion close to the head office of UNO in Baghdad

An explosion occurred Monday behind the head office of UNO in Baghdad, struck on August 19 by a bombing which had fact 22 died, according to a journalist of the AFP the spot.

Several ambulances were on the spot. Vehicles were damaged. The explosion seemed to have occurred in a carpark behind head office of UNO.

I bet the French are aiding resisters in some way. I say France is the enemy. They lose influence in the Arab world and they will shrink even more.

In 1981 the United Nations General Assembly passed resolution 36/67 declaring an International Day of Peace. In 2001, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a new resolution 55/282 declaring 21 September of each year as the International Day of Peace.
