Voters, not worried that he may split the vote, stand by principles rather than desire to win.

Someone may have switched your monitor with a mirror.
That happens often with retred/shills.
Tell me more about "winning".

You know I thought at some point people will come around and realize we only have ONE candidate that can win Oct. 7 and it isn't Tom, unfortunately. I would support whoever is leading, Tom or Arnold.

I may as well pack my bags because it seems some of us here LIKE LOSING. The CA Republican Party is done. Stick a fork in it. If we can't beat these losers we have up in Sacramento now, there is no hope against a more formidable candidate. Add to that more illegals getting to vote because of newly found licenses and IT'S OVER!

CA, the Golden State to Welfare State. Sad....

>>>P.S. You brought Tom into it, I didn't.

Nice try, but no cigar. Your inference was clear. Low low blow, but in keeping with your personal insults and anti-McClintock rants.

You know that FR is a Conservative forum, but Jim has repeatedly said that the idea is to get the Dems out of office FIRST and work on getting more and more solid Conservatives in afterwards.

Arnold may not be as Conservative as some FREEPERs are; however, if he were, he wouldn't be electable. Tom has great Conservative credentials ( to some, who overlook his flaws !), but he is absolutely unelectable. This scenario, with Cruz losing some votes to Arnold, but a strong bases, nonetheless, in a candidate field of 130+, means that whoever gets the most votes wins. Cruz might. Arnold WILL, if enough DOG IN THE MANGER supposed Conservatives, stop being blinkered masochists.

Even if EVERY Conservative in California voted for Tom, he'd lose. Arnold's California supporters aren't all Republicans, let alone Conservatives. He gets crossover votes, which strengthens Republicans; especially in future elections.

Staying home or voting for Tom, won't help GOP/Conservative goals. It won't help California. It won't help anything or anyone but Cruz B. and the further destruction of California. It's really just that simple. Oh yes, and " principles " won't keep Tom's supporters warm, clothed, fed, safe IF Cruz wins. And no, they won't be sleeping better either.

Some here are starting to sound like Cruz/Mecha,

"For the Cause, Everything
For the rest, Nothing"

"But if he plays out being Perot - I don't think anything can save him. A shame really, but he will bring it on himself."

>It's a post about republicans who block Arnold's tax increases being threatened with their political lives<

Interesting - now a comment about what I see happening is considered a "threat" with a little kicker about being somehow connected with not going along with tax increases.

Some of these posters must be living in their own little paranoid fantasy world...

"Even legislating a minimum wage costs money to enforce."

... Gee, and I suppose the paper and ink that the legislation gets written on costs something also and adds to the deficit, so I guess you've got me...

If you are going to try to make a point, at least have it deal with reality....

Yep. Only took two minutes for the swarm to descend.

Darn.. I missed the fun!

I posted this and a few other articles and went to bed.

I'm surprised it took them so long. Maybe they are showing their desperation as their candidate IS turning GReen ; See the Pandering Hydrogen Candidate - See Arnold decimate what's left of the California economy..

Arnie has to pander for any vote he can get. The TomBots ain't going nowhere.. but up. Like Tom's numbers... Slow but steady... Wednesday night .. Sweat City!

You thought Davi$ was bad. If elected, wait 'til you see a committee of rich folks telling Arnold what to do. LOL

IT will not be Doomsday if Arnold or Busty doesn't get elected. Get a grip as this sellout of one's principles to 'Just Win,Baby!' advances nothing for the conservative cause, no matter how far Right Arnie tries to appear. Besides, we have legal and elective recourses that can be pursued.

A bit of overreaction is quite evident in some folks of late. tsk tsk .. Nobody ever promised you a Rose Garden anyway, did they? ;-)

If every democrat in the state planned on voting next month you might have a point. Unfortunately for your senario, things are a little more complicated.

For example, there's those that are motivated to vote & those who are disillusioned. I think its safe to say the GOP will have more success than normal getting the vote out.

Also, believe it or not there are plenty of democrats who find someone willing to take a no tax pledge pretty attractive and will vote accordingly after the curtain is pulled shut. "Unelectable in CA" McC lost his last statewide election by a fraction of a percent, which indicates there are democrats who will cross over for the man.

IMO, many democrats are alot more open minded to TM as governor than are many "conservatives" on FR.

"If Arnold is elected governor, he will need someone to head an audit of the state's finances to slash the budget. Enter Tom McClintock. Tom would gain a high profile as an unelected state comptroller and advisor to Arnold, while Arnold would finish out Davis' term as Governor.

During this time, Tom could rally supporters for bigger, more important battles; such as a run for the U.S. Senate in 2004 or 2006 or a run for Governor in 2006. Hopefully by 2004 or 2006, Arnold will have unified and re-energized the Republican Party of California to battle against the Democrats."

Tom's supporters !
Stop this guy quick... he's making sense !

Great idea. He could challenge Warren Buffet to best out of three falls. The winner getting to carbo-load with the guv.

Tom would make a great back bench worker bee.
Buffet has people to do that sort of thing.

If Tom really cared about California he would be seriously considering a position where he could actually get his ideas into action without being distracted by the other necessary functions of being a Governor.
