Arnold may not be as Conservative as some FREEPERs are; however, if he were, he wouldn't be electable. Tom has great Conservative credentials ( to some, who overlook his flaws !), but he is absolutely unelectable. This scenario, with Cruz losing some votes to Arnold, but a strong bases, nonetheless, in a candidate field of 130+, means that whoever gets the most votes wins. Cruz might. Arnold WILL, if enough DOG IN THE MANGER supposed Conservatives, stop being blinkered masochists.
Even if EVERY Conservative in California voted for Tom, he'd lose. Arnold's California supporters aren't all Republicans, let alone Conservatives. He gets crossover votes, which strengthens Republicans; especially in future elections.
Staying home or voting for Tom, won't help GOP/Conservative goals. It won't help California. It won't help anything or anyone but Cruz B. and the further destruction of California. It's really just that simple. Oh yes, and " principles " won't keep Tom's supporters warm, clothed, fed, safe IF Cruz wins. And no, they won't be sleeping better either.
Some here are starting to sound like Cruz/Mecha,
"For the Cause, Everything
For the rest, Nothing"
A bit of overreaction is quite evident in some folks of late. tsk tsk .. Nobody ever promised you a Rose Garden anyway, did they? ;-)
If every democrat in the state planned on voting next month you might have a point. Unfortunately for your senario, things are a little more complicated.
For example, there's those that are motivated to vote & those who are disillusioned. I think its safe to say the GOP will have more success than normal getting the vote out.
Also, believe it or not there are plenty of democrats who find someone willing to take a no tax pledge pretty attractive and will vote accordingly after the curtain is pulled shut. "Unelectable in CA" McC lost his last statewide election by a fraction of a percent, which indicates there are democrats who will cross over for the man.
IMO, many democrats are alot more open minded to TM as governor than are many "conservatives" on FR.
