Well, FReepers can do that - might take some practice to not lave the teeth marks, but... ;0)
Thanks for your input!

How you intend to fund the venture should be a major part of your plan.Be prepared not to see any profit for at least 12 months.
To: GSWarrior
Heck, I'm used to that ;0)

I've been involved with several start up publications. It's exciting but not for the faint-hearted.
To: GSWarrior
Well, exciting is good - I'm certain it's going to be a lot of work, but nothing worthwhile is ever easy.
Any advice or experiences you can offer would be greatly appreciated, and I think youfor taking the time to respond :0)

Chad, you're getting some damn good advice, huh?
Here's my two cents. Instead of a newspaper, what about a monthly or semi-monthly magazine? Why? I suspect you want to get out the "real" news to debunk liberal lies and propoganda, right? To me, point-counterpoint articles won't play that well in a daily newspaper format. Nor will the conservative writers have enough time to fully think through their articles. But if you had a magazine you would have all the space and time required to debunk the libber lies on a point by point basis. THAT's what drives liberals crazy -- the truth.
For example, take Hillary's latest spiel about GW trying to ruin Medicare and Social Security. That nonsense could be easily tossed back in her lap if someone took the time to point out all the things GW and the conservatives had done, and are still doing, to preserve both programs.
Another added benefit of a magazine is that, for example, George Will's or Ann Coulter's newspaper columns could be gathered up and posted in an organized and more useful way in a magazine. I suspect they both get paid a bundle for their syndication rights . . . perhaps they'd be cheaper in a magazine format since all they'd be are compilations of columns instead of being hot off the presses.
Anyway, that's my two cents. Keep plugging away. We can NEVER have enough conservative outlets.

That would be nice - except, we are planning to concentrate on more local issues - what's happening around the state and it's communities. A national magazine (Free Republic Magazine has a ring to it, don't ya think?) would be great if anyone wants to take the ball and run with it - but I think dealing with closer-to-home issues is a good way to go for a small publication...
Thanks for your input, it is much appreciated!
(Anyone with tons and tons of money to spare, contact me about the national monthly magazine idea LOL)

The Puget Sound Chapter of Free Republic is considering a conservative paper of some sort. Please post any ideas that you may have. This chapter is strong and active and even those of us outside the Sound area should support them.
I am pinging you ex-Texan for any legal advice or suggestions.
Libertina, Chad; we should start a thread for the Washington Freepers on this idea.

Ya know, I just had another idea: why not print some good news along with the other stuff? Like all the great stories coming out of Iraq!

What about local radio talk show hosts?
I know that in Oregon and SW Washington Lars Larson does more than just his local and national show. Folks like him may be willing to submit original work.

Perhaps you could ask for access, beg, borrow, or last resort, hack your way into the state GOP's spanking new database. They've compiled an updated list of Republicans from the Elephant Hunt. With their list you could send out calls for investors/help and if you direct mail the paper, with the database you'll have a large ready made target group.
To: bigfootbob
I don't know - it's certainly an idea. However, I doubt the state GOP would go for it. Doesn't hurt to ask though... Although, another option is to network at events - What might be good is to create the initial issue, and when networking give out copies of it and use that as a basis for asking for help/investing etc. - have a product created, and basically show that you are serious and show what you can accomplish...
Saying "We can do this!" is one thing - saying "See what we can do?" is better, imho...
Thanks for the ideas - you made me think, and I like that!

I wonder what type of concessions the state GOP would want?
If a paper was to tight with the party it may well lose credibility.
What about the Libertarian Party and Constitution Party?
