Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks, has told American interrogators that he first discussed the plot with Osama bin Laden in 1996 and that the original plan called for hijacking five commercial jets on each U.S. coast before it was modified several times, according to interrogation reports reviewed by The Associated Press.

I believe it was during the Malaysia meeting that the hijackers stayed at either the Iranian or the Iraqi embassy (or stayed at the house of embassy personnel). Does anyone have a link to the reports on this?

Just a guess, but it sounds like an authorized "leak". I make that guess because the facts presented put the Administratio in a good light: "We're making progress and gathering important information." At the same time, the source(s) avoided compromising operational security of ongoing investigations. The story serves to counter the impression some in the media are trying to foist on us to the effect that the War on Terror is going nowhere.

Had the FBI listend to actor James Woods...who witnessed highjackers "rehearsing" the hijackings a few weeks in advance...
They may have been able to put some stops in place...
Arming the pilots of course would have probably stopped all the hijackers in their tracks...
