TOM MCCLINTOCK DAILY EDITION - 9/21/03 (CA GOVERNOR'S RACE)

TOM MCCLINTOCK DAILY EDITION - 9/21/03 (CA GOVERNOR'S RACE)

Please post local, regional, national news and views on Tom McClintock. This is a news and info thread. The following guidelines for posting are per DoughtyOne's most excellent suggestion.

McClintock Camp - Supporters or Defenders

Please post positive articles about Tom's policies and leave the Schwarzenegger bashing to the Democrats.

Schwarzenegger Camp - Supporters or Defenders

The call for McClintock to withdraw right now, or the tactic of calling him and his followers names for not doing so, is not productive and isn't good for the party.

Please save the Rino Arnold/Unelectable Tom rants for other threads.

"Dear Mr. Reagan, it should be obvious to you now that you can never be elected governor. Please put aside your ego, for the good of our party, and get behind the one man who is moderate enough to appeal to California voters - - San Francisco Mayor George Christopher."

Somewhat active. My "independent" activities drive them crazy. I maintain an daily e-mail missive and a Ventura County Freeper forum.

I saw that on your bio.. and that is great.. but you still need to use your influence in the Local Meetings... the best thing you can do is get ALL your friends together.. and start going to their meetings.. and get enough support to OUST your Local Republican Committe Chair... Trust me if you bring enough votes to your local Committee your influence will have an impact.. just a suggestion my FRiend..

I have a personal confession to make - I thought McC actually lived in his home district. Silly me - according to his interview with the LAT, turns out he's been living in Sac since 1996 (Elk Grove).

It looks like that partially answers the question of what he's gonna do after he loses his seat next year. He's been in the central valley so long he actually believes his supporters' claims of taking over the CA GOP.

If the tule fog don't getcha, it's living in an area that has the worst air quality in the country that will. Want a little side order of pesticide with your smog?

They have been dark for the summer, I'm still getting my sea legs and working on building a coalition of conservative activists in Ventura County. I get the impression that the RNC isn't the most effective way to effect change but am still on a learning curve. The slowly turning wheel is just starting to squeak.

.. That is where you are WRONG.. the RNC IS the most effective way to effect change.. you just have to learn how to operate within the ORGANIZATION.. and your LOCAL committee is the FIRST rung on the ladder...... give your local chair a call and ask when the next meeting is.. bring as many conservative friends along as you can... you probably will not be able to vote until you have attended a few meetings.. they will explain their policies to you.. but when you gather enough votes you WILL have an impact.. and you WILL have far more influence than you will ever get by fighting AGAINST the organization....

I find it troubling that 46% of FREEPERS who responded to the "FREEPER POLL" are standing behind Arnold TODAY ... we should ALL be pulling for Tom to get his Poll numbers UP.. and if the numbers don't add up than we can go with the #2 choice to WIN.....

Excellent comment and advice. However, unfortunately at this time the numbers don't seem to be adding up for McClintock.

If at this time, half of the conservative vote is currently supporting Arnold and the other half is currently supporting McClintock as is roughly suggested in the Freeper poll, then McClintock's poll numbers would go from 10% to ONLY 20% IF all of the conservatives who are currently support Arnold would switch to supporting McClintock.

That still isn't good enough and I also think that the FR poll is more skewed torward less Republican, Arnold support than is the case in the general California Republican population.

Precisely why I call on the Tom folks to start getting loud.. time is running out... This is NOT the time for a sideline attitude....

If the Arnold supporters on this board can galvinize people to crash and protest the McCintock rally yesterday in San Diego, I'm sure they can muster a freep of our own poll. I no longer consider the poll valid and almost didn't bother to vote myself. Perhaps we will hear from other Tom supporters on this issue.

I think there is even greater resolve that Tom has a chance. People are working to help Tom versus wasting time arguing with naysayers.

Well, there's a difference between polling for McClintock, in hopes of upping his numbers, in a public/general poll, like Field, Gallup, Zogby, Times, etc., and voting in FR. In FR polling, there may well be more candor -- of the "but I'll pull for Arnold if Tom's still way behind on Oct. 7" -- that one shouldn't display in the former sorts of polls.

Good point, although that was the prior poll. I wonder if there is any significant diff in the breakdown of the one currently racking up votes.

So this is the post not allowing criticism of McClintock supporters? Actually I don't care much what happens in California, and it could be that Schwarzenegger withdrawing would be for the best since the "Conservative" fantasists out there would wake up with Davis, or maybe Bustamante, by worse than two to one.

As Mackay said, people get into destrucive group manias in bunches but return to their senses only one by one.

Yes and there was a similar Arnold post put up by FairOpinion the other day that was just beautiful. Lots of pics and very few Tom disruptors.

However, this thread often links to others threads that have turned into rant threads - so if you feel the need to criticize Tom supporters you can try one of the links.

I don't know that the thread doesn't "allow criticism" of McClintock. More like a strong request. Don't much up this thread with the usual mud -- plenty of other threads for that, hm? -- and with any luck the same kind of request on an analogous Schwarzenegger thread will be honored too. (If there is one.)
