It won't be Powell but it might be Condi.

Unfortunately Condi's not a politician. But if a policy wonk like Rahm Emanuel can become a Representative and a political wife like Hillary Clinton can become a Senator, and a lawyer like John Edwards can become a Senator (all first time around, I think) then Condi should run for Senate first.

I'd send money to her for that!

enable the Democrats' real white knight to jump in: waiting in the wings, Hillary Rodham Clinton.

It truly baffles me how anyone could consider this woman qualified to be presidential candidate. Her only qualifications are being first lady (to a failure of a president who's only legacy is Monica and to whom she stuck by thicker than Tammy Wynette could ever have imagined) and a partial term as carpet-bagging senator from loopy New York.

It blows my mind.

There are a lot of good people running for president," said the retired four-star general. "I need time to analyze what they stand for, and then develop some ideas about what I stand for. Then I can compare them with me and decide who would make the better president."

Uh, Dog, that "comment" was invented by scrapple.com, a parody website.

Clark could say something like that, but he didn't.

Clark will have to answer for his incompetence to HHQ (Hillary Headquarters). He's not carrying out his marching orders.

As he told The New York Times when asked whether he'd have voted to authorise war or not: "I think that's too simple a question." Unfortunately, most questions are: you have to vote yea or nay; and the general seems to feel that sort of thing's beneath him.

Bullseye!

I don't understand a General in the military having such an anti-war attitude.

I don't either. I thought it was the job of the military to prepare for war, all the time, in everything they do. Then it is the job of the Civilian Authorities (President & Congress) to determine when war is the right thing to do, and then it's the military's job to prosecute it with extreme prejudice. "Anti-war" and "Four Star General" are two words that don't go together. I would think "anti-war" would be grounds to relieve a commander all on its own.
