Schwarznegger dwarfs McClintock in proven leadership skills. It's the values that count, and the ability to drive those values into the system from the top down. Being a competent bureaucrat is not a positive reason to elect a politician.

Are you serious? What are the proven leadership skills?
Values? Using other people to excel in movies and body-building? We have already seen in the past 24 hours that after blasting McClintock for taking money from special interests, he has taken money from a multi-millionaire in tax trouble, after swearing against doing this. Is this a value we should applaud?
McClintock a beauracrat? He is an elected Republican legislator in a state full of Democrats, ran on conservative principles and fought for them in the assembly. What has Ahnold done to equal that? Promoted an tax-heavy after school proposal that hasn't yet been implemented because there is no money for it and would be cut from the budget by a conservative anyway?

He's not going to be governor for life, his election offers an opportunity for a victory, something to build on in an otherwise solidly Dem state. And considering the alternative is the election of a racist and corrupt Dem, why not take a chance?

Did you toss a coin or what? Why didin't you say Republicans should get behind Bustamante in order to beat Arnold. I can't understand how one liberal is better than another.

Republicans should get behind McClintock because his views more reflect the Republican platform, while the other two yoyos hold views similar to the Democrat platform.

Simple math and freshman stats skills are all that are needed to see that McClintock, a fine man with a great record, simply cannot win this race.

While it is a reasonable leap of logic to say that among McClintock supporters, if he dropped out and urged support for A.S. that A.S. would likely win with a strong margin, perhaps even a clear majority, the reverse is simply not true. A.S. has many supporters in the independent and crossover camps who will simply not be pursuaded to vote for McClintock, even if A.S. begged them personally.

Personal note: those among us who see the world for what it is and are willing to accept the situation and endeavor to do our best within the constraints of the world as it truly exists are not charlatans, turn coats, RINOs, neo-cons, carpet-baggers, or willing accomplices of the Devil himself ... we are simply political realists who believe that having an (R) in the Govs mansion is important, and that to do that we need a candidate who can get crossover votes because the fact remains that there are a LOT more (D)s out here than (R)s ... that may mean that the best and most electable candidate is not the most 'ideologically pure' candidate ... but if you would rather have us suffer the same fate again and lose the opportunity to make judicial appontiments, lose the opportunity to grasp the veto pen, lose the opportunity to campaign for more local reps, and lose the bully pulpit ... then fine, lead and vote with your 'conscience' intact, and sleep well after Cruz takes the oath of office knowing that you helped elect him...

Arnold has no credibility on conservative issues and for good reason. Arnold is a liberal. Arnold is opposed to most of the 2000 GOP party platform and for good reason. Arnold is a RINO. And what leadership abilities does Arnold have in government? None. Zero. Zilch. Zippo. Nada.

On July 27,2003, the BRAC decision was passed through the Cal Senate, 36-0. This was legislation advanced by Tom McClintock, which will reduce "identify, downsize or eliminate obsolete state bureaucracies". A very conservative piece of legislation and in keeping with the GOP agenda.

If you want a Hollywood liberal and political empty suit, to be the next governor of California, vote for Arnold. If you want the best qualified man to become governor of California, vote for Tom McClintock.

If Bustamonte wins this election, the California conservatives deserve what they get. Yes Arnold is a liberal, a traditional liberal, but at least he's not a Socialist. Sometimes you have to take what you can get, and if you don't, you deserve the booby prize.
