Arnold won the straw poll at the convention big time. Your poll is the one where Bob Mulholland voted.

Why do you lie like that? Do you get pleasure out of such things?

A vote for Tom McClintock is a thrown away vote. You California Republicans better get your damn act together! The best course for the country and California right now is to elect Arnold Governor. The state then goes into the Presidential election in Republican hands. Even if Arnold is a flaming liberal, he will appoint thousands of loyal Republicans to state positions which will place us in a much better position going into the Fall 2004 elections. Reagan Man, better wake up to the reality of life. Tom McClintock was dead in the water before he ever started! The Democrat low life just adore him! You are only fooling yourself!

Spare me the bs.
Now you're going to tell me about Arnold's degree in "business and economics"?
Oh... you didn't know it's BOGUS too?

Learn a little Tamsey... or do they pay you so well that the facts don't matter?

Arnold is now consulting with Milton Friedman himself on the workability of school voucher programs."

Arnold has said on multiple occasions that he opposes school vouchers.
So.... a few weeks later he's talking to someone about it?

I want a Governor who knows something about the issues, and doesn't run to someone else everytime he has to go to the bathroom.

Re: vouchers... he already blew this one... if he flip- flops to the right side of the argument, it will expose him as waffling on issues that are critical to the people and show the state just how empty the suit is.

Me learn a little? You were the one caught making outrageous assertions that were easily shown to be clueless. LOL

If you don't like being embarassed, then check your facts before chucking your mud.

If Busta-MEChA wins by 20 votes over Arnold, I guess the Arnold supporter screwed up.

This a forum with thousands of members in California -- the clear majority of whom support McClintock (according to the running poll). The race is within the margin of error.

Attacking the people you need to convert is suicidal.

Nice duck.
Since you're so informed, tell us about his education.
Tell us about how many hours Arnold sat in a Wisconsin classroom?
How many lectures on Economics or Business did he attend in Wisconsin?
Did he get credit for giving workshops on the great Schwarzenegger philosophy of "Staying Hungry"?

In effect, Arnold bought his degree based on fame.
He got his elementary education via the Weider school of merchandising... in my book, he's being dishonest with the people of this state.... and does not have the character to be Governor.

He would appoint thousands of liberals in state offices
placing the party firmly under the control of liberals.

He would raise taxes through the roof so if anything
he would hurt Bush in California.
And in the backlash against him Republican state senators,
state reps and Congressmen would lose.

'Cruz will win if McClintock stays in the race'? Why do you think that is? maybe because arnie can't garner enough votes? Anyone with any common sense, or who knows the first thing about conservatism, would realize why they are so afraid of their arnie-boy losing.

If arnold doesn't win it's because he doesn't deserve to win, and because, thank goodness not all republicans are brain-dead lapdogs who have no principles. All arnold bootlickers should do everyone in CA a favor and join the leftist marxists where you belong. Leftist GOP sellouts really are revolting!

This a forum with thousands of members in California -- the clear majority of whom support McClintock (according to the running poll).
From http://www.freerepublic.com/perl/poll?poll=29:

Question ...

Now that we're coming down to the final two weeks of campaigning/debating (barring Democrat obstructionism), who do you now support for Governor of California?

McClintock
264 votes - 49%

Schwarzenegger
240 votes - 45%

Other
9 votes - 1%

Undecided
19 votes - 3%

532 votes total

Not quite a "clear majority."
And, of course, FR is the home of primarily hard core conservative activists, where support for Tom OUGHT TO BE close to one hundred percent.
If McClintock can only capture HALF his "base" - the committed conservatives (which at best represents a third of the electorate here) - no wonder that he is locked into the 15% range statewide:

"The latest Public Policy Institute poll showed

28 percent of voters favoring Bustamante to replace Davis and
26 percent supporting Schwarzenegger.

McClintock was third at 14 percent.

The poll, conducted over the nine-day period ending Sept. 17, had a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points." - link

You have no clue. Tom is a lock in his district.

OK, here's the standard set of questions:

1. Are you currently living in Calif and able to vote in the upcoming recall election?
2. What part of Calif do you live in?
3. Who is your US rep and state assembly/senate reps?

If you even know where N. Ranch or Hidden Valley is, or know the fastest route over the hill to Malibu, I'll send you $5 via PayPal. [Note to lurkers: these questions are like asking a NYC native where Macy's is located.]

Simple math and freshman stats skills are all that are needed to see that McClintock, a fine man with a great record, simply cannot win this race.

While I totally agree with you, I am getting concerned that you are talking to a brick wall.

I have been saying essentially the same thing for three weeks now and yet we see McClintock supporters who are holding on way too late.

Like the S Vietnamese guys clinging to the landing gear of a helicopter as it lifts off the building in Saigon, there is a point where if you don't let go, you are gonna end up falling from a much higher point... they have got to accept defeat of Tom and work for the victory of an (R).

As conservatives, we have to work harder to get the Republican Party in California back on track, but this is not the time to fight to the death for conservatism, we should be fighting for the (R) by pulling behind the winning candidate.

This is called pragmatism. We can work on the idealism when we get to the next primary.

#####

The only one ducking or being dishonest here is you. After I shot to bits your wild smears about Arnold not reading Milton Friedman's book or caring about his theories, you didn't acknowledge your gaffs and just changed gears to throw more ill-informed mud at his college degree.

If you want to be embarrassed again, so be it.

Read those articles carefully... you'll see he came here speaking no English, yet made his fortune and then admirably worked toward a college education earning 3 years worth of degree credits taking courses in the 70's at Santa Monica College and UCLA.

He then completed the last year's worth of credits taking correspondence courses at University of Wisconsin and going to campus there for the exams. He only tested out of and received credit for a couple of physical fitness classes and film production. He finished the remaining University requirements for the degree and received it in 1980. BTW, folks who don't have parents cosseting them through college often need to complete a degree over several years in this manner.

The ONLY degrees that he received without actually do the traditional work for them are the Honorary Doctorates, which he has never presented as otherwise.

Effect of Simon and Ueberroth dropping out (total 13%) shows MadClintock did not climb to around 17% but dropped instead to current 14% after having several debates without dominating presence of Schwarzenegger.

EXACTLY. I am a political consultant. I am told internal Arnold AND Cruz polls show McClintock polling around 10-11%. And our poll of self-named, likely voting "Conservatives" show that McClintock has LOST 4 POINTS among this group because of the Indian Mafia Scandal. Tom has peaked and is sinking fast. But because all internal polls show Arnold and Cruz NECK AND NECK, McClintock can only be a spoiler.

Truly a sad state of affairs for the GOP if Tom stays in this thing. Otherwise pools show Arnold wins by 10-16 pts (the higher figure anticipating a large undecided swing to Arnold once he is the sole GOP candidate).

So when is Arnold going to offer McClintock something worth dropping out for? Like the right to propose and veto certain gubernatorial appointments? Like judges?
