A QUICK QUIZ. What does a company bleeding red ink in the cutthroat PC industry do with spare cash that it nets from laying off its employees and outsourcing the jobs to India?* Answer: HP goes shopping! Yes, HP, that computing once-giant that appears to be busily shedding its staff as fast as the new 9500 series can print out pink slips in vividly color matched shades is on a shopping spree. And what's HP buying? Executoys of course.

The estimated number of outsourced jobs per jet is 2500 to 3000 at $10/hr.
Wow.

If you need a PC or printer, buy a Dell. Sure, it's not made in the U.S., but at least it's not a HP or Compaq POS.

That Carly Fiorina is a first class bitch who never did anything but smile nicely for board's that want to boast at cocktail parties that they hired a woman.

The new corporate aristocracy is above the problems of their companies. Their golden parachutes are in place, and their bonuses are well managed. This kind of waste will probably continue until the parachutes are replaced by firing squads.

She may feel the need to have an escape jet fueled and ready on the tarmac at all times if she's half as "loved" as I've heard from HP'ers.

And what a great company they have ruined. It will go the way of DEC. Pretty soon we will not be able to buy an American made Computer. In one sector after another we have truely idiotic management.

so many of you gloom & doom FReepers never pay attention. HP is pursuing a series of transactions to take advantage of the new tax laws including bringing billions upon billions of dollars from overseas onshore.

Well, what did you expect? Carly was trained by Rich McGinn of Lucent fame. And we all know how well Lucent is doing.

Please don't interrupt them while they're carrying their torches and pitchforks. The deficit cuts in two directions. How much of it is due to a decline in US taxable economic activity? Or the ever growing cost of servicing our foreign exchange?

I gave up on HP when the engineers no longer ran the company.
There was no sound reason for the HP-Compaq merger, other than for Carly to be able to boast that she "ran with the boys".

you can short HP at any time. Any company that bought Compaq and didn't take their name off their crappy computers is going down. HP makes the mistake Dell does not make, the PC has to work out of the box and with a variety of other products. Dell does and compaq does not. Guess why Dell has 40% of the market and is growing?

The company I work for switched from Dell to HP/Com-pig a couple of years ago...we hate them. The Dells worked flawlessly. It was rare that anyone had a problem with them. If they did, it was usually from either physical damage or someone picked up a virus and the hard drive had to be re-imaged. Now all of the desktops less than 2 years old are all HP's and the laptops are Compigs. My desktop had to go back to IT 3 times this year. One of my friends at work had to have IT send his brand new laptop back twice and he's only had it for 5 weeks. After 2 new hard drives it still spontaniously reboots. People there turn down the new P3 laptops and fight over claiming the remaining P2-300 Mhz Dell laptops because they WORK and the Compigs don't. HP never made a good PC. Now they've trashed Compaq as well. After Carly took over, it was all down hill.
I bought a Presario, pre-merger...it works great, but it's the last Compaq I'll own.

Don't worry....In terms of sucking, Dell has caught up to HP/Compaq.
Last month I severed all business ties with Dell and my company. No one is permitted to so much as call Dell.
