However, state law does provide an escape for voters who return an absentee ballot and then change their minds. If an absentee voter also casts a ballot at a polling place on Election Day, election officials will discard his absentee ballot as part of the verification process which occurs before the final election results are certified.

How secure is this process?

Dictators, communists and liberal Democrats despise elections........especially when they hold all the power!

The California recall is paramount to a declaration of war against Democrat incompetence!!

If they're checking the signatures, they're obviously privy to the registration and may be finding that more Repubs are returning their ballots. Thence came Bubba. Thence CAME the judges to try to take care of that little matter.

Wonder how many of those are military ballots??

Well, I'm not worried about any election fraud. Nosirree! Not at all! It would never happen! The Democrats would never sink so low. I have faith in their sense of decency and fairplay [begin giggling here]

Just watch the sequence of events. They already know what the stats are for this election. The goal is to stop it and/or switch it to March. The object is to get the Dems to the polls. However, there is a danger here for the Dems. If the Californians go neg on Davis, they may go against all other Dems...and switch to an all Repub ticket. I think they have to let this election go ahead in a timely matter and hence, here come the judges AGAIN.

No kidding! I had seen a couple of articles referring to "Early Voting" - which I had mistakening assumed to mean "absentee ballots". Nope. Alameda County already has electronic "voting booths" set up; and people are electronically voting. Why the heck set a date of Oct 7th?

Doesn't matter.
The criminals controlling the results will shred them all...
Then say, "Oooops".

Uhm......If a person casts an absentee ballot and then votes in person at a polling place, shouldn't they be arrested for voter fraud?

Or gosh, is that too harsh?

Under the equal protection clause (because according to the 9th circuit, it is made of rubber), wouldn't voting before the election date give an unfair advantage in campaigning?

"In Los Angeles, the number of requests for absentee ballots is nearing an all-time high -- already nearly 50 percent more than sought for last November's election."

Very interesting. On one hand, one thinks Rat county, Doofus GOTV effort BUT in the last election Grayout spent over $70 million and was on the ropes. As such, his GOTV effort was probably huge and logistically bigger than in this one. Methinks Arnold has struck a nerve. Recall and Arnold by 15 to 20 points is my call...

We better get the job done because failure to recall Davis will cost the taxpayers ...big time! Wonder how much we'd have to pay Clinton?

CALIFORNIA CONSTITUTION ARTICLE 2 VOTING, INITIATIVE AND REFERENDUM, AND RECALL SEC. 18. A state officer who is not recalled shall be reimbursed by the State for the officer's recall election expenses legally and personally incurred. Another recall may not be initiated against the officer until six months after the election.

"If it is delayed, the absentee ballots will be thrown out and the whole process will have to be repeated for a new election date." Democrats! In 2000 and continuing until this day, the democrat mantra was/is 'the Republicans wouldn't count the votes; Republicans disenfranchised voters.' Now, when Grayout Davis is in danger of being recalled and a new Governor elected in populace democrat territory, Leftafornia, democrat controlled election boards are ready to toss out ballots. And the amazing thing is, too many voters are stupid enought to buy it! P. T. Barnum would shake his head in astonishment!

Good point. Methinks the recall train has left the station, is heading downhill and there is no stopping it. Quite the ride in any event...

Regarding registration, from Novack today:

"It is also accidental that the recall scenario pumped new life into a California Republican Party previously thought to be comatose. New voter registration, for the time being, is running four-to-one Republican. It has taken three Democratic judges to slow down the revival. "

Hehehehe....
