The interesting thing about this observation is the relative importance of the first and last letters in understanding the word. Both in written and verbal language, the beginning and end of words are the most important to comprehension.

I can read what you wrote, but it took me two or three times longer and it was an effort, whereas when I read correctly-spelled and sequenced words, the task is comparatively effortless.
Repeat after me: phonics are our friends, and spelling is important!
