Decent 15-second power hit here in Falls Church 5 minutes ago... accompanied by a boom that was probably a transformer...

I'm only 30 minutes from you. First there is no wind....then a sudden gust, then no wind, then a sudden gust.

No wind??? We have been getting wind all day in Chester County. Nothing major, but definitely windy.

Folks, the monster has sped up! Forward speed now estimated at 25MPH. Still tracking NNW, so anyone in the DC/Norfolk line will get the "NE Quadrant" of the storm. Not a good place to be...

I can verify that, effective 1700 EDT, there have been NO casualties directly attributed to the storm. Tornado reports in the Tarheel have dried up; nothing new from the state warning points in any of the affected states..

the wind behind the eye going in the opposite direction from what you've been getting is getting close. the radar map has it at over 50kts. I'm not sure how accurate those maps are though.

Looking at the radar, is it the GREEN that has the high winds?

Can you link me to the exact map you're looking at?

Is that the one that is near Louisburg?

(Still trying to learn!)
