N Korea says naval exercises 'prelude to nuclear war'

North Korea has warned it will take what it calls "merciless retaliatory measures" if the United States and its allies proceed with plans to intercept suspicious ships in international waters.

Australia, the United States, Japan and France practised stopping and searching a ship suspected of carrying weapons of mass destruction.

At this stage, there are no specific plans to put the drills into action, but North Korea is furious, warning it will take "merciless retaliatory measures by mobilising all of its military potentials" if a naval blockade is imposed.

In its latest commentary, the Korean Central News Agency described the drills as "a prelude to nuclear war", and warned that Pyongyang would be forced to further increase its nuclear deterrent force.

I just saw a Boomer sub cruise past my house in the Puget Sound, and immmediately thought that the whole N. Korea mess would be over in 20 minutes if it opened its hatches and let those 20 birds (each with 8 nuclear warheads) fly.

Many in the USA will be surprised when they see which country ends up teaming with us to get those scoundrels out of power in Pyongyang and bring peace, security, stability and vibrant commerce to Northeast Asia.

Using nukes on North Korea will be like using a 200 ton press to squash a fly. They will probably fight more valiantly than the Iraqis (the NK's have been brainwashed for 50 years by the commies), but their outmoded, outclassed weapons, and our superbley trained torrps will just means that more of them will die needlessly.

Wouldn't be a surprise to me. China has a vested interest in NOT seeing a remilitarized Japan on their back door. Which is going to be the case if we don't get rid of that jackass in North Korea.

These reports about the Korcoms are like reading a comic strip, always entertaining but obviously bizarre and usually funny.

Correct. They have one or two missiles. We have many, many submarines.

That and MFN status.
