I'm not sure what happened with WIlliam Saletan.

A) He dropped his crack pipe and sobriety hit him like a bread truck.

B) He is actually becoming scared by the tone of debate set by the candidates from his party.

He senses an upcoming electoral disaster...

Here we are, in a "jobless" economic growth with a bleeding deficit and foreign "aid" explosion, and according to polls, their leading candidate, who happens to be a demogogue, is at least 13 points back (probably more like 20). Not too good.

Republicans may be shrill on occasion, lie on occasion, fiddle with the rules on occasion. But they are nowhere near the level of the Democrats when it comes to demogoguery, lying & cheating.

I'm glad Clinton is back out in front of late, reminding us of what an accomplished liar he truly is. And there's nothing shrill about that.
