When the subject is Emergency Relief from the US Supreme Court, I am a better source than the talking heads now on TV. NONE of the people currently being cited as "experts" on Fow News, and other channels as well -- presumably, have EVER requested, much less gotten, Emergency Relief from that Court.
I HAVE requested such relief there, several times. And I've gotten it, or helped others to get it, three times -- all in presidential elections (1976, 1980, and 2000). I've also had it denied on occasion.
And my considered opinion in THIS case is that SCOTUS will throw out this Ninth Circuit Order on an Emergency Basis. The Order to do so will be signed by Justice O'Connor.

This move is straight from Clinton's playbook.
He wants the final decision, like Florida 2000, to be thrown into the Supreme Court. That way, when the S.C. rules against them and lets the Recall proceed, the idiot dems can scream and shout that the Recall, aided and abetted by the Supreme Court, is a political move to overturn an election.
They are pathetic.
"All of them witches."

Cooter--thanks for posting that article from the CA constitution.
Billybob---I sure hope you are right. This is beyond belief.
These sort of shenanigans set ominous precedents. What in the heck is in store for us in the upcoming Presidential election??

The Florida electorate had the right to remove the rogue judges. That wouldn't have helped Bush, but it would have done something even more important: It would have upheld the concept of federalism.

I agree. I don't think the SCOTUS will take this case.

Oh, yeah. Definitely ticked off.
Judicial activism at its worst.
For conservatives who are angry at President Bush for various matters, let's try to put it aside for the next election.
We simply MUST stop these judges and right now, like it or not (I'm a supporter) - President Bush is our best option to make changes on the bench.

Also, not only is the case law on voting standards undefined and evolving - while this case involves a relatively singular set of circumstances without enormous distinction - but the SCOTUS may very well simply want to avoid revisiting the hyper-politicized acrimony of Bush v Gore...

Ditto that! 'Nuff said.

From now on I'd like to see them be referred to as: THE 9TH CIRCUS COURT OF COMPLETE IDIOTS!
To: aristeides
I appreciate optimistic people, Aristeides, but Bill Frist has turned out to be a big disappointment as Majority Leader. So don't get your expectations too high about any movement in the senate over judges.

What we have here is a Liberal Lifetime Appointed Federal Judiciary
COUP!!! The PEOPLE don't matter one whit as already decided by a CA Judge that would not stop the Recall that the CA PEOPLE had decided should proceed on a timely basis.
Justice delayed is justice DENIED!!!

It's crazy. There are only 2 or 3 holes to punch in this election. If they can't manage that, how can they drive to the polling booth?

When I heard the news I had to laugh. This court is more predictable than the weather and even more predictable than the outcomes of early-season college football games, when big teams commonly play scrubs to warm up for conference play.
