Bush Makes Inroads With Black Voters. Huh?

Alvin Williams, president and CEO of Black America's Political Action Committee, states this in a recent editorial column. I added the Huh?. While I admire his optomistic outlook in the article, it boils down to nothing more than wishfull thinking. The crux of his argument is based on his assumption that the black-American voters love affair with demorats is showing signs of strain. Supposedly, this is because none of the 9 democrat pesidential candidates are lighting their souls on fire.
Well, they're not firing the souls of white, asian and latino dem voters either but that is no reflection on George W. Bush. They all hate his guts. Williams states further that only 39% of dem black American voters have made up their minds for 2004. His poll says that Lieberman is the leader with 13%. Ha! Is this the same Lieberman who was given the up-turned eyebrow from the NAACP when he arrived a day late at their nomination interview? I don't buy it Alvin. When Nov. 2004 rolls around, most black voters will vote for Kerry... the DNC's favorite son.
According to his poll, Colin Powell gets a higher favorable rating than Jesse Jackson, 77-69% and Condaleeza Rice gets high marks also. What?! I noticed that Clarence Thomas was not mentioned in the poll. Wonder why pray tell.
While I admire Williams optomism and the goals of BAPAC, his polling is totally delusional.

I tend to agree with you. Most Black voters have been brainwashed by the Democreeps for years. It will take a miracle for Republicans to make a dent in that voter block!
To: areafiftyone
I know black professionals who like Bush. 10% of 20 million blacks = 2 million black Republican voters, and that number will grow as black people continue to enter the middle and upper classes.
A couple of other things to think about:
1. Pandering to Mexican immigrants is a turnoff to many blacks.
2. No new Democrat candidate will appeal to blacks the way Clinton did.

Over the past three years, blacks have seen the gains of the 90's completely wiped out.
Right now, I'd say the black vote is Gephardt's to lose. He's not as patrician as Kerry or screamingly pro-gay as Dean.

I'd say the black vote is Gephardt's to loseSorry pal, ain't gonna happen. Not even in Missouri. The DNC wants Gephardt as much as they do Dean or Lieberman. They want Kerry for better or worse and the blacks will reluctantly vote for him.

I'd love to see some public campaigning for G.W. from some passionate, conservative African American leaders...whether officially "endorsed" by G.W. or not. J.C. Watts, Alan Keyes, Walter Williams, Thomas Sowell are good candidates.

If the GOP can crack 25% BLack vote this year, the DEMS will lose 10 more states then they lost in '00.

Why are we wasting good political capital on a bloc of Socialists who vote a consistent 92% Socialist in every election cycle?
If GWB would use that capital to appeal to the Conservative Base, who put him into office to begin with, and whom he's alientated over the last three years, he'd ride the wave back into a second term.
But NOOO, have to bow to the god Multiculturaldiversitytolerance, don't we?

Problem: Don't know where you live my friend, but the white male demographic is shrinking everywhere except for outerwhitelandia (do those fools actually think the future doesn't know how to follow a highway?). We have to look for votes anywhere we can, even if miracuously, immigration were stopped tomorrow.

It's all relative. Will Bush do better than 9%? Yes, most likely. Even Al Sharpton thinks he'll do better than 9%. There were people that thought Bush would bring back Jim Crow because Gore said so. They know that's nonsense now.

Oh, and our "support" can show up in low black turnout, too-- a sign of movement towards independence, not obedient loyalty to the Dems. That seems to have happened last year.

The black Rat Step in Fetchit performed yesterday at the AME Zion political temple while royalists garbed in purple robes of Caligula and Nero intoned their praises in the backgroundr. King Bill and pretender Gray nodded and swayed in approval. The offering was passed and smiles broke out on their faces as they proclaimed "praise the lord"

I think a "Contract with Black America" or a "Contract with Minority America" could split the Blacks and Latinos completely away from the DemonRATS.
This is an idea touted by Thomas Sowell, BTW.

I think Bush/Rice would make a winning ticket for 2004. I think Cheney has too much baggage in addition to his heart problem (that baggage assumed/alleged or not). Condi will do well with women - black or white.

"Condi will do well with women"
I'm a woman, and I don't feel swayed by the fact that she's a woman. But I'd still vote for her, because she's Condi. I can't imagine anyone more brilliant, experienced and classy.

THAT is a good one. Might I use it? Sure. It was actually coined by Curtis Sliwa on his radio show here in New York to describe the outer suburbs in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Have you considered that maybe he is too "compassionate" for them?

Bush will get 8-10% of the black vote next year. The Dem, whomever he or she is, will get 90-92%. Count on it. In order for those percentages to change a major cultural shift will have to occur in the black community.
