"TOM McSELFISH = Gov. BustaMENCHA"
9/14/2003 | ALOHA RONNIE Guyer

NEVER FORGET

.."TOM McSELFISH =

...Gov. BustaMENCHA"

........was THE Sign to behold at this weekend's California Republican Convention held in Playa Del Rey next to the Los Angeles International Airport. So I did.

...No Convention Endorsement came for California Governor, but a posted Convention Straw Poll showed ARNOLD with nearly ..80%.. of the votes verses a little over ..18%.. for TOM McCLINTOCK.

...No one backed down this weekend, though it was hoped one Candidate for California Governor would, with Recall Election Financier Congressman ISSA watching it all unfold right before his very eyes.

Signed:.."ALOHA RONNIE" Guyer / Republican Convention Witness

NEVER FORGET

Then I suppose you hold that Jesus didn't love the world because He didn't "bow out" from going to the cross?

Oh, brother. What an absurd analogy.

Thanks, RONNIE-san. I enjoy your posts w/out exception.

It occurs to me that this bad karma thing between Arnold Schwarzenegger and Tom McClintock (and their supporters), should be settled once and for all, "Man to Man", mano a mano,

in the form of a 90 minute debate, no advance questions reviewed, between these two responsible men to see who it is that deserves unqualified California G.O.P. suppport.

I would like to see this in the next 10 days, as soon as possible.

Abe Lincoln and Ronald Reagan and some of the great GOP debaters would be proud of us to place our emphasis on this important competitive civic function.

The clear loser of such a program should bow out.

I'm wondering if it isn't better to have Davis remain. The state is a mess and no Republican can straighten it out overnight. It requires a man of principle and a spine of steel...Arnold is none of those things.

What kind of "principle" - in terms of fixing the state's problems - do you think he lacks? And what leads you to believe he is not strong and determined?

Thank you both for your comments and for your faith and integrity.

I don't live in California now...but did in the early 1980's for about 5 years. I hail from Texas and have been in Montana and Idaho for the last 10 years now with my family

McClintock is the only candidate I could cast a ballot for in the race in California. My two litmus tests in voting are the 2nd amendment (our final life line for physical liberty) and abortion (the defining moral and spiritual issue of our time). Arnold fails them both.

But that's jme and easily said from my haven up here in SW Idaho.

I pray God's blessings and wisdom on the people of California...and I pray He will intercede and make it possible for an individual like McClintock to win. Nobody (outside of those actively engaged in the struggle, and that was a mere 25-30%) believed the founders and patriots of this nation could beat the British either. But they did, and they did because of faith like this...

"They tell us, Sir, that we are weak---unable to cope with so formidable an adversary. But when shall we be stronger? Will it be the next week, or the next year?...Sir, we shall not fight our battles alone. There is a just God who presides over the destinies of Nations, and who will raise up friends to fight our battles for us. The battle, Sir, is not to the strong alone. It is to the vigilant, the active, the brave. Besides, Sir, we have no choice. If we were base enough to desire it, it is now too late to retire from the contest. There is no retreat but in submission and slavery! - Patrick Henry
Again, thanks for your comments.

Well, if you must, read through this thread. I got "a little snippy about it" because I think that people actually should hold to some principles. I managed to piss off quite a few people. ;-). "McClintock supporters stand on principle"

Sure. Yea. You love your kids and fear for the future so you'll NOT vote for Bush and perhaps allow a liberal democrat to become president. Yea, that sounds like a REAL good long term plan.

Good thinking.

I wish all of the California FReepers good luck.

It looks like you will need all the good luck you can get.

IMHO Bustamante is not an improvement over Grayout.

Ah, decided to step out of the sandbox I see.

Then again, the whole recall process is juvenile anyway and a good example of why we in New York are happy to have California to laugh at.

OK, if the Chicanos want to restore AZTLAN, why would they make Spanish the first language? Shouldn't they be working to revive Mexica (pronounced May-SHEE-Ca, the language of the Aztecs)?

OK, do idiots actually think having a Repubican governor will help Bush carry the state? Mass, Rhode Island and New York had RINO governors and Gore won all of those states big time!

The foremost principle of McClintock supporters is making sure Cruz Bustamante gets elected Governor.

You love your kids so much that you'll risk having Howard Dean win the election, just like those who voted for Perot loved their kids enough to put a pervert in office??.

Interesting 'logic'.............

If Robert E. Lee could not take eleven states out of the Union, how can Cruz Bustamante return the most populous to a foreign neighbor? Is Bustamante that powerful, or is it just the perception that he lacks the ability to be governor?
