Turnout was light this afternoon. It was the first time I've voted on "Election Day" in a while, as I've been taking opportunity of the early voting. However, this time I wasn't home during any of the scheduled early-voting days.
This is also the first election in which my county used electronicvoting machines (upgrading from punch-cards). They are a big (12-inch by 24-inch?) LCD monitor with a touch-screen on top of it. I thought they were easy to use, and liked the ability to quickly review all my choices before committing my votes.

I voted early, so I don't know about local turnout here.

I voted about 10:30 in Lakeway, and there was a long line when I went in, and a long line when I went out. Took me 35 minutes to get through the line and vote.

In my precinct here in Amarillo, paper ballots were still used. Can't say how big the turnout will be. I AM wondering why we're not seeing any returns running across the bottom of the TV screen yet. Usually, they are continuous, starting shortly after 7 p.m. when the polls close.

Prop. 9 Permanent School Fund is the only one failing right now. Prop 21,3,4,18 in low 50% range. Prop 12,20,19 just above 55%.

Not looking real good right now for Prop 12, with almost 1/2 of precincts reporting, nothing from Cameron(Brownsville), Hidalgo(Harlingen), and El Paso Counties, little from Houston and Travis. All hotbeds for manufacturing liberal votes.
IMHO, the pro-Prop 12 groups got their butts kicked by the anti-Prop 12 ad campaign in the final days. On Friday I heard an extremely misleading radio ad from the anti-Prop 12 liars, claiming how their were numerous conservative judges, officeholders, and groups against the measure(a flat out lie). Very slick and convincing, if you were not following the issue closely. Would have been nice to hear counter ads pointing out the falsehoods, or at least a Phil Gramm directly endorsing in an ad.

Actually, a 53K vote lead in early voting is down to a 41K lead, so if the trend holds(big if, if Dem strongholds still out) then another 13K lost still gives a 28K vote margin.
