Arnold's last name explained
Me
Posted on 09/13/2003 2:20:22 PM PDT by Mon
I find more and more people believing that the second part of Schwarzenegger's name has to do with the "n" word. Here an explanation to everybody who is interested :) The American N word has nothing to do with his name! The N in his name goes with the first word (his name is actually two words pulled together).
Schwarzen: most likely comes from black haired if the egger means field plower So his name would be "black haired field plower"
But, egge is also a harrow, so it could be a "black harrow." The first explanation is more likely though

Well, 'Black-haired Field Plower' seems to sum up his younger days ;0)

hahahaha, good one! A lot of names were made up a long time ago of course, hundreds of years ago etc. :) Most likely during the medieval days and so on

oh, you read my profile. I bash politicians who target certain groups, not the group itself honey. I have black nephew, a jewish mother-in-law and a latino cousin.

It's called trolling ... as in looking for a discussion different from the one at hand.

Arnold was on a talk show years ago and said his name meant "black plowman". Nothing to do with hair.

ARNOLD: From a Germanic name meaning "eagle power", derived from arn "eagle" combined with wald "power".
To: Mon
Ah! Arnold ist ein
Schwarzen Egger! I get it!
I had a German friend once whose last name was Schmutz...
To: boop
I know he said that, he explained it wrong though. If you look into old naming methods that's what was meant. Back when those names were created I don't think were many black people in most European countries :)

Did anyone watch the last dumb-as-crap debate where Rev. Al said "Schwarz-Nigger"?

I don't know that, but the German one is "Neger" Again, the n in his name belongs to the first part.

I think Guillermo was making a sarcastic joke in reference to those who would think Arnold's surname has something to do with the "n" word (Latinos do a lot of agricultural work)...
