"Once we get enough States converted we can try for a national concealed carry permit." Slow down and be careful what you wish for. With a Federal permit, it could all go away very quickly as well. This is a state issue, anyway.
Another thing to consider is that in PA, I can carry almost everywhere (Federal property, schools excepted) and am not required to have training class. My 5 year permit is $17.00. I don't want some of the more onerous requirements that other states impose. The Feds will make it more difficult, not less.

Just look at how they're treating the pilots like
CR@P these days to get a glimpse of how a Federal CCW system would be run. "Want a qualifying class? It's 80 hours long, and held every June 31 in Death Valley, Arizona."

"With a Federal permit, it could all go away very quickly as well. This is a state issue, anyway."I agree...and given the AWB, it would probably(a federal carry permit) contain a "sunset provision" and we'd all be back at square one in a few years.
Far better to issue an Executive Order with the force of law that gives all states total reciprocity of CCW permits under both the "Full Faith and Credit AND the Equal Protection" clauses of the Constitution. In simpler terms, if your drivers licenses are good and valid in a state (or a protectorate like Guam or Puerto Rico), so too, are your premits to carry concealed firearms good in ALL states and the District of Columbia.

mine is 5.00(at least the last one was) senior citizen---now, let us get reciprocity from all the carry states, so we can be protected and help protect their citizens when we travel the country--hell with ca, ny and the eastern garbage (although 7 of my kids live in nj)--what say ye?
