New information is coming to light in the investigation of Ohio State University running back Maurice Clarett. The university might not seek Clarett's reinstatement from the NCAA, as reports of him receiving extra benefits begin to surface.

10TV has learned that OSU tailback Maurice Clarett faces an indefinite suspension following an investigation into his finances, and other potential violations of NCAA bylaws.

In addition, WJW-TV in Cleveland reports that the investigation is complete and that OSU will make its recommendation to the NCAA regarding Clarett. WJW reports that the investigation concluded that Clarett has received thousands of dollars in extra benefits, in addition to Clarett's alleged uncooperative behavior with investigators. WJW also reports the university will not seek Clarett's reinstatement to the football team. That effectively ends his career at Ohio State.

Let's say a player sings a one year deal for 1 million.

If he gets hurt, he does not receive his pro-rated share of that million.

I believe he gets something, but it's not the originally agreed upon million.

A friend's daughter was in a class with Clarett at OSU last year. We asked her to ask him to autograph a T-Shirt for our son for his 18th birthday. Clarett asked her how much she was going to pay him to sign it. She said it was for a handicapped kid so he didn't charge her. She said he was a real jerk about it.

Not at all like another recent OSU running back. An acquaintance at church was telling about seeing two big black guys sit down behind him in a restaurant, and one lights up. My acquaintance's buddy (a small white guy) works up the nerve to ask the guy to put out the cigarette. The other black guy starts up a conversation, asking about the kids, etc. Just a few guys talking...

...until my acquaintence's wife comes out of the restroom, looks at the one black guy, and says, "Hey, you're Eddie George!".

My dad was patrolling a bad neighborhood and saw late at night a group of people loading up a truck with stuff from someones apartment...as he got closer he noticed they were a bunch black dudes and they were startled at his presence. My dad noticed one was enormous and had a peanut head. It was none other than Eddie George moving from his Ghetto home after he signed with Tennessee. My dad initially acted like he was going to be a butt head asking for all their identification and what not only to say "Just kidding, i know who you are... Sign this paper for my two sons and I might think about going easy on you" (or something to that effect). He chuckled and my dad congratulated his successes.

These kids should tak on the NCAA, Everyone makes money off the system but the kids, for what??? A college education that will make them at best an accountant, financeer, or teacher??? They'd be better off going to a jr college and becoming a police officer, nurse, or firefighter, than waste their bodies and time with a college system more corrupt then the mob.

While those teams rankings do get padded there is just something special about being from Florida that automatically results in a huge bump in the rankings.

How about all of the athletes in sports that don't make money. How about at schools that don't make enough in athletics to cover the cost of the sports programs? I guess a quality education isn't enough of a reward.

My opinion is that we could allow the superstars to "endorse" products for money. What is the difference between that and any part time job where they can earn money to pay for rent, etc.

Title IX and Equal Protection will preclude college players from ever getting paid, even if by some strange chance the NCAA got enough votes to allow it.

Under any system of being compensated, every player, regardless of gender, sport, position or playing time, would have to receive the same amount. Most schools couldn't even afford this. Even big time money schools would have a hard time. You know how many athletes they would have to pay?

The schools aren't going to vote to give up money anyway. Its not even practicle. I get a kick out of people who say they honestly believe that college players getting (legally)paid is right around the corner. It will never happen.

The difference is simple. I get a job at the restaurant or at the market by appying for the job as "me" with my skills. An athlete is only "who he is" because he has received free money from a school, most being publically funded. They are only in the position to be famous and endorese something because they are getting a free ride and because of the College or University they attend. Where I can make $6 to 7$ an hour working based upon employment I gained only by myself, the athlete would be profiting from his free tutition status funded typically by taxpayers(in one way or another).

What I would do, is: If I owned a franchise I would recruti out of high school, train the kid at the pro arena, and put them through college, seperate from the NCAA. But then, I'm an A-hole.
