SOUTH HADLEY -- When Naeema Hernandez arrived for her first year at Mount Holyoke College, she was welcomed by a campus that, for two days, had no white American students at all.

"You're scared when you first come in, and you have questions like, `Is there a lot of racism here?' " said Hernandez, now a sophomore, who is from New York and identifies herself as African-American.

Hernandez is one of hundreds of Mount Holyoke students who have attended "Passages," the college's pre-orientation program to help minority students settle into a college where each might find herself the only person of color in a particular dorm or class.

This is an absolute crock. Not one of the schools mentioned in this article has any dorms with only one "person of color" in residence, and few if any classes with that composition. All these schools, and all similar selective private liberal arts colleges are swarming with affirmative action admits, as well as with East and South Asian students who are anything but affirmative action cases.

Sir Walter Scott

Thank you. It does have a Shakespearian ring to it though.

"There's some thought that pre-orientation programs might actually be a force toward rigidifying racial boundaries rather than opening them up,"

Well, duh!

I'm with you on this one.

How do you believe in the Confederate Flag? I mean I believe that it's flying outside my house. I believe I get a lot of people asking me about it. Half don't know what it is and the other half thank me for flying it (I'll let you decide which half are the yankees ;)) How do you believe in it? Perhaps the principles of freedom from our oppressive national government? Nah, it said her roommate was a Republican and Lord knows if her roommate believed in the principles behind that flag, she would be a conservative

""There's some thought that pre-orientation programs might actually be a force toward rigidifying racial boundaries rather than opening them up," said Lee Bowie, dean of Mount Holyoke."

Nothing like racist liberalism. Always looking for a way to divide and conquer all in the name of compassion. They ought to END these racist orientations. By now a person at that age should be able to handle themselves regardless of color. But no. Liberals want to keep that chip on the shoulder alive through racist segregation with maybe a few token whites to target for guilt of things they had nothing to do with or no control of.

My roommate was a Republican from the South and believed in the Confederate flag.

(Cute how the boston glob coyly connected the Republican party to 'the flag' ala Trent Lott, lol) I believe in the Confederate flag too. I actually saw one once with my own eyes, so I know they're real. You see, I was out in the swamp drinkin' some beer and teachin' my dawg 'Luther' how to read when this big ol' UFO came by with one of them flags on it...

This is all a bunch of crap supported by the PC whores of Communism.

Just think of the hue and cry that would be raised if the South had an all white university that didn't allow for anything but traditional Anglo-European/American holidays!

The bottom line for this institutionalized racism is - "Whites - bad, all other races - GOOD!"

The South WAS RIGHT!
