The California Mess

I wrote this letter to the Armstrong & Getty Show and it was read on the air on Friday Sept. 5, 2003. Thought I share it with you all.
Hello! Love your show!!!!!! I am so mad about this whole thing with drivers license for illegal immigrants etc. I'm a legal immigrant who came to the US in 1992. I am married to an American, because of that my mother-in-law had to sign a piece of paper for the INS stating that, if I need financial help the first 10 years in this country, she will have to provide that, that I am not able to receive welfare for this time! Now, I never planned on getting any welfare, but why should illegals get it????? I paid over $600 just to get into the US. I paid another $295 for my American citizenship in 2002 and I didnt mind any of it.
All these people out there who scream for their rights are very uninformed. This is not about all immigrants anymore, its only about a certain race. Anybody who is not Hispanic is not included. All they create is more hate instead of uniting us. Just because I came from a European country doesnt mean I need to be treated differently.
I speak English since 5th Grade, perfected it more before I moved here, because school English only teaches you the basics. People just have to get off of their behinds and take charge of their own lives. Yes, some believe English doesnt have to be spoken by everybody in the US, but how stupid are they? We have children in my daughters school who do not speak English, their grades are messed up, they cant talk to most other kids, but then we have to find programs to educate them in Spanish (no child left behind)? What about the child from Mongolia in her school? Is there a program for her? No!
Drivers licenses: Why? Who is going to pay if they have an accident? There will be law suits in regards of them legally being allowed to drive, are they going to be required to purchase insurance? Are they starting to pay tax for the money that they receive under the table for working illegally? I pay taxes, I expect others to do the same. A friend of mine almost got deported because she was late renewing her green card, what the heck???? A drivers license gets everybody on a plane, what about that? For anybody to be called a racist or anti-immigrant on this subject is absurd
.. an add on from me that was not included in the letter: a drivers license also buys you a gun.......

Most illegals are Asians and come in through Washington state or British Columbia.

There is no way I can believe that.

One more reason for opposing dealing with illegal immigrants is that a significant number are fugitives from the law where they left. I know that two murderers were caught recently from Guanajuato as they endeavored to get to the U.S. (The prosecution of employers and support of city, county and state level law enforcement will be required for effectivenss.) The U. S. needs to support legal immigration by enforcing the laws against illegal immigration.

When I lived in Chula Vista, CA every morning there would be people camped in my front yard, it was a sight, I thought then and I think now the best way to deal with the flow ILLEGAL immigrants north through Mexico is to give them a reason to stay in Mexico, a fairly high percentage of the immigrants are from Central and South America, if Mexico would just grow a Government, start trusting its population, Reform its Real Estate Laws it could grow a Middle Class and with their Natural Resources they could be on their way to being a Super Power themselves. (We can kick start them by giving them the Statue of Liberty, I dont think the French would mind
)

VISITING LEGAL foriegners can use thier own countries licenses to drive here LEGALLY while they visit. So people working here on temporary visa's shouldn't have a problem DRIVING here. Not to mention, legal nonresident aliens can already legally get CA drivers licenses with no SSN, although they need a letter from the SSN office stating that they were rejected but are here legally; they must show their valid visa and passport to prove they are legally here. Resident aliens (aka greencard holders) can get SSN's and can work here, so they can get a drivers license as easily as a citizen.
SB 60 benefits illegal aliens only.

This epic invasion extends *far* beyond the California state border, or for that matter, the entire southwestern United States.
The people in power inside the Federal Government have failed to secure and protect our borders. That includes President Bush, Congress, Senate, etc etc....

Congratulations! Welcome to the USA, fellow citizen. Those who CHOOSE to become Americans, I hold in higher esteem. Those born here and who are citizens by birth are lucky. Those who chose to endure the wait and the tests are illustrative of the allure America has for freedom loving folks all over the world.
Fight the good fight!

Don't try and lecture me, honey, YOU should also know that things are messed up for a longer time than the last 3 1/2 years. Thank you very much

NOW THAT IS A GREAT IDEA!!! :o) But seriously, since we are "connected" it would BEHOVE us to have Mexico succeed. In many ways.

Perhaps Grayout Davis hasn't. But I'd say that the Justice Department, and this President have done a pretty D*MN good job all things considered since they came on board.

If so, your right, you dunno.......
