The California Mess

I wrote this letter to the Armstrong & Getty Show and it was read on the air on Friday Sept. 5, 2003. Thought I share it with you all.
Hello! Love your show!!!!!! I am so mad about this whole thing with drivers license for illegal immigrants etc. I'm a legal immigrant who came to the US in 1992. I am married to an American, because of that my mother-in-law had to sign a piece of paper for the INS stating that, if I need financial help the first 10 years in this country, she will have to provide that, that I am not able to receive welfare for this time! Now, I never planned on getting any welfare, but why should illegals get it????? I paid over $600 just to get into the US. I paid another $295 for my American citizenship in 2002 and I didnt mind any of it.
All these people out there who scream for their rights are very uninformed. This is not about all immigrants anymore, its only about a certain race. Anybody who is not Hispanic is not included. All they create is more hate instead of uniting us. Just because I came from a European country doesnt mean I need to be treated differently.
I speak English since 5th Grade, perfected it more before I moved here, because school English only teaches you the basics. People just have to get off of their behinds and take charge of their own lives. Yes, some believe English doesnt have to be spoken by everybody in the US, but how stupid are they? We have children in my daughters school who do not speak English, their grades are messed up, they cant talk to most other kids, but then we have to find programs to educate them in Spanish (no child left behind)? What about the child from Mongolia in her school? Is there a program for her? No!
Drivers licenses: Why? Who is going to pay if they have an accident? There will be law suits in regards of them legally being allowed to drive, are they going to be required to purchase insurance? Are they starting to pay tax for the money that they receive under the table for working illegally? I pay taxes, I expect others to do the same. A friend of mine almost got deported because she was late renewing her green card, what the heck???? A drivers license gets everybody on a plane, what about that? For anybody to be called a racist or anti-immigrant on this subject is absurd
.. an add on from me that was not included in the letter: a drivers license also buys you a gun.......

If you call the Rocklin DMV (at least as of last week Friday) and ask if showing a drivers license will let you register to vote with them, they said "yes."

But - I had a drivers license as a legal immigrant and by law of course you cannot register to vote, because the requirement is: you have to be a US citizen.

Illegals are not all Hispanic... Most illegals are Asians... What a load of bunk!
The majority of illegal aliens in the US come from Mexico and countries of Central America.
The majority of criminal aliens in this country are Mexican nationals.

I heard on the news today that some States don't want to honor a California drivers license anymore, anybody heard about that? I've only heard Colorado, but can you blame them, really?
We need to get enough signatures for that referendum.

People are working on drafting up stuff with some legal experts. Armstrong & Getty for example, and others. I hope it goes to the streets soon so we can sign!

You must not follow any of my post on this subject or you would know that I'm all for enforcing and improving the security of our borders. I just think people saying this administration is a total failure in that area are wrong.
Considering what they INHERITED, they have had their hands a tad full. Considering what they HAVE accomplished in that the area of LAW ENFORCEMENT with regard to people trying to do us harm, I'd say our agents have done ONE hell of a job.
Did you know we've hired more people in Border Patrol? (both for the Mexican Border and the Canadian Border) How about Airport Screeners? Did you even know we have more of them now? Sure I think we could use more, way more. But the fact remains we do have more. Do you agree with the Homeland Security office? While it is still being fine tuned, we are talking about a huge structure here. to think it is like organizing your local PTA is being extremely naive. That is my frustration. I liken it to people whining about the war not being OVER and all secure and comfy in Iraq after only 5 months!!
Again, I'm all for increased security on our borders, and I can't imagine how you would think otherwise. If you'd care to look back on my years posting here, you'd see that.
You would also see that I think MEChA is a HUGE threat to our state (and several others!), and I think people are extremely naive about its agenda. I've tried to educate people about this organization for a couple years now.
But you have evaded my questions.. what do you propose we do about the borders?
BTW, it would have served this debate well, had you watched Hannity and Colmes tonight. Your arguement was identical to Colmes.

I don't know where you live, but some of us are right in the middle of a huge mess, financial, societal, and criminal. We've been trying to get help, have existing laws enforced, pass new laws (prop 187) for years and it's been like banging our heads against a wall. I know I'm not the only one with a headache. I've heard this administration talk about what they are doing, I've seen (up close and personal) the airport screeners, and I know they have reinforced the border checkpoints. But the illegals are continuing to stream across the border, and there is continued talk of amnesty. It is extremely frustrating! It also looks like the administration is completely unwilling to deal with our open borders. And at this point, I need to see some progress in that area before I'll believe anything is being done.
But you have evaded my questions.. what do you propose we do about the borders?
No, I answered this... and I am not going to repeat myself.

I sense what is happening is that the Hispanics are being set up to be the other "minority" that can't care for itself, vis a vis the blacks. The Blacks are living on the plantation, and the Hispanics want a part of it too.
So as to other immigrants, they're smart enough to make their own way. We just give the goodies to the Hispanics.
To: SCalGal
I'm sure that will happen soon! If I hear anything I will post it

I came here with a certain education of course (AA in Office Business received in Germany), so it was a little easier. Still, I had to start as a Human Resources Clerk, worked myself up to Human Resources Representative within 6 years. I just feel if you want to you can accomplish it. Small college classes, there are classes called "English as a second language" etc. etc. etc.

Simple. Military sentry duty along the borders. Drones and cameras with infrared optics to let the sentries know when the illegals cross. Interdict and deport at gunpoint.
Instead of doing ANYTHING, our government lets it stand as it is, 600,000+ new illegals since 9/11. My post wasn't about 9/11, it was about the financial, political, and cultural disaster that the high rate of ILLEGAL immigration poses.

This is one of the most amusing political figures to come down the pike -- ever. At one time she was a Gingrich admirer. Now she has switched to clintoid themes. Will she get 2 percent?

I listen to Armstrong and Getty in the mornings sometimes. I heard some of the rants regarding driver licenses for illegals. They're doing us a great service. Great letter! Thanks!
