<< Jimmy Carter was a good man, a very good man with a good heart. >>
I used to think the same thing, that he was just a bumbling incompetent but basically a good person.
Now I think he is not only incompetent, he's devious and a back stabbing mean spirited loser along the lines of Hillary.
Examples:
1) Before the first Gulf war he lobbied other countries to stay out of the coalition going against US policy, can you say treason?
2) His self appointed trip to North Korea where he managed to make sure they wouldn't produce any nukes. What a success that turned out to be.
3) The Panama Canal lease was ours in perpetuity. Not the 99 year lease they tried to foist on us as a reason to give it back, now who controls the canal? Hell, Panama wasn't even a country.
I've got more respect for Billy.

Good points re what 9/11 cost financially, LS.
On FNC earlier tonight they said that the Marshal Plan cost over $13 BILLION in the 1940's. Adjusted for today's dollars that has got to be at least the cost of the war in Iraq.
We can spend the $$ here to rebuild after another attack or in Iraq to improve the region.
We can let the terrorists gather in Iraq and take on our armed, well trained soldiers or we can let the terrorists (who have proven they can and will travel) come to the homeland again to face unarmed civilians.

BUMPING your sentiments!
We have learned that terrorist attacks are not caused by the use of strength - they are invited by the perception of weakness...
We USED to understand that concept. NOT UNDERSTANDING it, or being TO AFRAID TO CONFRONT it, got us 9-11.
This President DOES understand it. THANK GOD!!

Let me add I don't think Carter was a particularly good man. He was, in many ways, what I call a "Christian hypocrite"---a guy who did not heed Christ's instructions to be as "wise as serpents" as well as "harmless." Carter placed the fate of millions in the context of his own gullible world view---fine if you are gambling with your own life, but not mine!

I think it would be great if we had a FR thread from men and women serving/returning from Afghanistan and Iraq to inform us of what they see, hear, think and have experienced.
Thank you for your comments.
Thank you for your service.

Why would you object to President Bush using correct terminology? Man. I ask a simple question which is just based on an observation that this term was used. I did not say I objected to this at all. Does everyone who brings out a question or observation about the speech automatically placed in the negative column?
It seems to be the case here. That is why I just pressed abuse on my question so it is removed.
Thanks and continue to support Israel and America's war on terrorism which has brought America to Iraq. The US will prevail.

Dude, I can give you the Green Party or the Libertarian Party phone numbers. The Libs in my area meet in a small room in Cincy---all 20 of em. I know, I spoke to em. Yeah, they have a REAL impact on things!

His critics -- petty, spiteful, shallow, irrelevant -- are, like al-Qaeda, the big losers tonight
Sure hope you're right on this one, John.
Thanks for another spot on post.

From the History channel's documentary, that was a done deal before Carter entered the picture. They just needed a nation state to solidify it in the eyes of the world.
Carter was, is and always will be a dupe of dictators the
world over.

Biden was totally snide in his comments ... pretending to support the president while saying, Oh, at last, finally, at long last, he has leveled with the American people ...
as if we didn't know, he more or less reiterated and emphasized what he has said all along.

Richard, you've been wrong about so much, so often, that no one but your fellow gold bugs listen to you anymore.Nothing like a little increase in government IOU's and further debasement of the currency to put a smile on the faces of the goldbugs. GW is going to make us all rich! :-)
