An upcoming TV docudrama chronicling President Bush's actions in the immediate aftermath of the 9/11 attacks blames President Clinton's "weakness" for leaving America vulnerable to the disaster.
Titled "DC/9/11: A Time of Crisis" and set for broadcast Sunday night on Showtime, the film "rarely misses a chance to suggest that the Clinton administration's weakness was to blame for the disaster," reported the New York Times on Friday.
In one poignant exchange, Bush is shown telling Prime Minister Tony Blair, "I want to inflict pain . . bring enough damage so they understand there is a new team here, a fundamental change in our policy."
Besides blaming Clinton for 9/11, the film's positive portrayal of President Bush as a decisive commander-in-chief during America's darkest hour has rankled liberal critics, who complain that "DC 9/11" will likely give Bush a political boost heading into an election year.
"Simultaneously dull and disgraceful," fumed the Washington Post's Tom Shales on Saturday, "'DC 9/11' . . . uses the tragic attack on America in 2001 as the basis for a reelection campaign movie on behalf of George W. Bush."
"The two-hour film often plays like a propaganda piece for the president," complained the Boston Herald's Amy Amatangelo.
In a particularly irksome development for Bush-haters, Timothy Bottoms was chosen for the film's lead role. Bottoms' positive portrayal of Bush in "DC 9/11" is a far cry from his previous role playing the president before the 9/11 attacks, when he portrayed Bush as a stumbling ignoramus in the 2001 Comedy Central send-up, "That's My Bush."
Beyond Bottoms' uncanny physical resemblance to Bush, "DC 9/11" offers dead-on physical impersonations of National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice, played by Penny Johnson, and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, played by John Cunningham.
The film was written and produced by Lionel Chetwynd, who purportedly had access to many White House insiders.

I wonder if it airs during the Pres's speech? Regardless I don't get Showtime but I hope it gets good viewership. The liberals frothing at the mouth about it is great publicity!

I saw an article on this docudrama in my local paper.
It was surprisingly positive.
If the New York Slimes and the Washington Compost hate it, it's a good program for sure.

I'd like to see this but I'm not going to buy Showtime for it.

Clinton should be blamed for 9/11. It's the truth.
Disclaimer: Please, don't split hairs with me and make a big deal about the Muslim terrorists who actually flew the buildings into the WTC and the Pentagon, saying they are to blame. They were the final actors in a play orchestrated by Bin Laden, who had the freedom to direct it only because Clinton was, in the words of Little Dick Gephardt, " a miserable failure" for not nailing Bin Laden on varuious occasions during his Presidency.
In this sense , the buck stops squarely on Clinton's desk.Unfortunately, the BJ king wouldn't even have noticed it on his desk, as he was preoccupied with more important things., under his desk.

I get Showtime. I will be watching it tomorrow night. They just showed previews for it, including some scenes of the President in bed with Laura talking about the attacks. The movie will be shown two more times this week. I am happy to tape it for the first two people who freepmail me.

This is great. When are they gonna do a documentary on Clinton's sale of missile technology to China for campaign contributions? It better be soon, there won't be much of an audience after that crap hits the fan.

Lionel was on the Larry Elder show Friday and I was very impressed. Surely hope it doesn't air during the President's speech. It's about time someone shines a little light on who did nothing to stop terrorism and now his lovely wife is holding up the President's EPA appointment so she can show her nasty a__ to New Yorkers. Will they ever go away??? Please save our country from these people.

Press on Clinton and Monica: It's no big deal. It shouldn't make any difference with the public.
Press on Bush and 9/11: It could make a difference and that's not fair!
