Free Republic's 9-11 100 Hours of Remembrance
Free Republic | 9/6/03 | Free Republic

Posted on 09/06/2003 1:45:49 AM PDT by jriemer

It’s 4:46am September 6.

Its a little more than 100 hours from the Second Anniversary of Start the World Trade Center Attack and the subsequent Strike on the Pentagon and the Crash in Pennsylvania. 100 hours seems to be a long time; however, it is barely enough to reflect and remember all those who perished on the ground and in the air. Each one of the victims has a story, a life, that if retold would take more than 100 hours to appreciate the richness of their stay on this earth before it was snatched away.

Since 911, there has been more sacrifice. More have taken from this earth – this time not in tragedy but in a quest for justice and the expansion of freedom. They were not helpless victims but Heroes of liberation for the Afghanis and Iraqis and protectors of our domestic security.

We would hope that you would take the time and reflect on the lives of those who died on 9-11 and those who have sacrificed their all since that day in these next 100 hours. Please contribute a post of reflection, a prayer, a memorial, a picture or even just a ping to your friends to let them know that 9-11 has not been ignored this year.

Never forget…

The proud warriors of Baker Company wanted to do something to pay tribute to our fallen comrades. So since we are part of the only Marine Infantry Battalion left in Iraq the one way that we could think of doing that is by taking a picture of Baker Company saying the way we feel. It would be awesome if you could find a way to share this with our fellow countrymen. I was wondering if there was any way to get this into your papers to let the world know that "WE HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN" and are proud to serve our country."

Thanks Matthew Paul.

IMHO I think America's future in Europe lies with the Eastern European countries rather the the Socialist Western countries. I sure hope our country comes to realize this and works harder at building good relationships with the East.

Francis Joseph Trombino, 68, Clifton, N.J., USA
security guard, Brinks
Confirmed dead, World Trade Center, at/in building

Joe, don't let the parole of this White, Communist Terrorist interrupt your just-deserved eternal rest.    Her parole epitomizes what's wrong with America.  Your life epitomizes what's right.

Portrait of a Progressive Terrorist

9:10 A.M. -- Joe Trombino, a Brinks guard, called his dispatcher from the basement of the north tower. He could see water leaking into the basement. "Something's happening," he said. "What should I do?"

Though he was just 100 feet from an exit, Trombino, 68, decided to stay with the truck and its cargo of securities.

At approximately 3:55 p.m., Paige, a 24-year Brink’s veteran and his partner, Joe Trombino, 48, exited the doors to the Mall rolling out the moneybags on a hand truck. They walked over to the Brink’s truck and began to load up the bags onto the rear deck. Simultaneously, the red van pulled up and the rear doors swung open. One of the suspects, armed with a shotgun, ran to the front of the truck and immediately fired two blasts directly at the bulletproof windshield. The guard in the front seat ducked just in time and was unhurt.

Another suspect, wearing a ski mask, opened up with his M-16 automatic rifle before his feet even hit the pavement, striking Paige in the neck, arm and chest. He was killed instantly. Joe Trombino fired just one shot before he was hit several times in his upper arm and shoulder. The bullets all but severed his arm off his shoulder. “I’ve got no arm!” he screamed. But Trombino would survive that day, only to perish years later in another terrorist attack at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.
