[history]
Secretary of State Colin Powell said Friday after a meeting with Mexico's foreign minister that he believes progress may be possible in resolving long-standing differences with Mexico on immigration issues.
Powell said that at November meetings with Mexican officials, the United States plans to offer ideas that "will demonstrate to the Mexican people and to Americans that we are serious about resolving immigration issues."

There's no Mexicans left in Mexico - they're all here in Los Angeles. If you want a hoochee mama hispanic gal, go to El-Lay.

LNewman,
Where do I suggest this buck stops? With no doubt it stops at the Oval Office.
I resided and voted for GWB 4 times while living in Texas and I understand his pander to the hispanic vote. If I remember correctly, he achieved 54% of the hispanic vote in his last election as gov. for the state. Unheard of for a GOP candidate.
My experience? Yes I have "spent time" in DC, more time than I desired. The most cut-throat, unpleasant place I have ever encountered, and I've been around!
Fortunately, it was on a legal, environmental assignment (Love Canal) and my stay was only 17 months but I obtained a good "feel for the place". Don't wish it upon your worst enemy...unless of course, they are foreign. :)

Oh, I'll be contacting mine, that's for sure! Trouble is, here in California they don't care what we think. Conservatives are as rare as hen's teeth...

Clearly the patriot act doesn't apply to those along the border.

Explain it to me, folks!

Sure. We have a borderline idiot as president who has some kind of obsession with hispanics.

Clearly the patriot act doesn't apply to those along the border. Of course not...unless they obtain a "library card".

With the borders wide open, how are we really supposed to believe that Bush is serious about the war on terrorism? In my mind his indifference to the border undermines much of what Bush otherwise says, like when he's speaking of terrorism, war, and so on. It just doesn't add up.

It adds up just fine. We have a borderline idiot who is obsessed with hispanics as president. It explains everything.

"Pardon me while I puke."
An old joke: Girls cry when they are sad, boys throw up. With news like this there wont be a dry floor in the house!
Listening to the news today, Ridge is out yappin' it up about "homeland security". The next story, Davis signing that f**kin' bill allowing any foreign dirtbag who can get to California a legal ID.
WET CLEAN-UP ON AISLE 3!!

Somebody on another thread was thrilled over how relaxed Bush was on an interview last night. He isn't relaxed. He's stupidly detached except for some meaningless platitudes he can mouth. When Reagan was president the light was on and somebody was home when you looked into his face. It wasn't an act. In researching Dutch Reagan back into the '30s he would make alert responsive incisive comments. In four years of watching Bush I have never seen an acutely alert intelligent look on his face. He looks like he is searching for a presence in this world. There's nothing there.

What doesn't add up are his views on terrorism and his open border policy. They appear incompatible. Either his views on the need for a war on terrorism aren't entirely sincere (or else the borders would be closed), or he's willing to threaten our national security in order to pander to the illegal vote (while the rest of us are subjected to the patriot act). Either way, it doesn't look good.

The concept of compatability is a function of intelligence. Bush is not intelligent enough to understand compatability.

As a conservative, I plan on staying home on election day 2004. Go third party or write in Tancredo.

Send ALL--ALL--of the Illegals BACK, with Hounds & Bulletts & Lawyers @ their Heels!!
CANCEL ALL non-English programs!!
IF a "Mexican" wishes to emigrate to America, He/she MUST BE proficient in English, & COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND the Declaration & Constitution of our Nation--& be able to defend those Documents, if Questioned!!
To be Fair, ALL American High School Graduates should Meet the Same Criteria!
Is That So Bad??

Do you think he'll ever find his self or is it too late?
--------------------
There is noting to find. All his life he has drifted between handouts resulting from family name and contacts. He has never had to develop. I doubt he ever had the capacity.
