Secretary of State Colin Powell said Friday after a meeting with Mexico's foreign minister that he believes progress may be possible in resolving long-standing differences with Mexico on immigration issues.

Powell said that at November meetings with Mexican officials, the United States plans to offer ideas that "will demonstrate to the Mexican people and to Americans that we are serious about resolving immigration issues."

Yes he did. But really, why can't Mexico roll up its sleeves and take care of their problems? We are enabling them to slack off and act as crybabies.

Derbez and several Mexican colleagues also met with Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, who has a guest worker bill similar to that of the Arizona lawmakers.

More stupid Republicans...

Dallas Ft. Worth Star-Telegram ^ | July 11th, 2003 | Dave Montgomery
WASHINGTON - U.S. Sen. John Cornyn launched his first major legislative initiative Thursday, calling for a guest worker program that would enable millions of undocumented immigrants to legally live and work in the United States for up to three years. The bill puts the first-term Texas Republican in the center of politically volatile efforts to overhaul the nation's immigration laws. The issue has strained relations between the Bush administration and Mexican President Vicente Fox, who is pressing the U.S. government to grant legal status to the...

This needs to stop.

The US and Mexico have had meetings regrarding the "matricula" card. What did "we" agree to?

I gues we'll find out at the same time we allowed to know who paid for and directed the massacre of 3,000 Americans.

What more does anyone need to see in order to make the decision to dump the creeps. Give us conservative Republican candidates or the party can die on the vine for all it matters.

almost 4 million undocumented Mexican migrants in the United States.

What a joke. There's probably that many ILLEGAL ALIENS in Los Angeles alone. What happens to the other 10 million? The idiots in Washington make me sick. Bush needs to be tarred and feathered and sent on a rail to Mexico.

Good question!

But it's obvious their leaders and role models are a sorry lot, que? And that the populous can only be "resourceful" when feeding off another country and its people.

Makes it all that more unbelieveable that Powell could be hopeful about that bag of worms ... is he planning to run for office there? ;)

What ever happened to his "bad back" away? Seems to have manifested a medical miracle, a total recovery, etc.

I would be sorely tested in my belief if the Primero Ranchero has returned to horseback.

Screw Mexico and its illegals (criminals). Bush is to blame for this ongoing fiasco due to his failure to confront the issue. He is a coward, plain and simple on this issue.

Bingo! He has sold us down the Rio Grande.

Powell is still "the good soldier" and gets his command from the top. Where "does" this buck stop?

McCain, a humanitarian act will be to stop immigration now, be honestly concerned and in favor of Americans and America.

What a joke. We're waging a so-called 'war on terrorism' while our borders remain wide open. Granny gets frisked for her nailclippers while illegals continue to pour into this country absolutely unimpeded every day. Explain it to me, folks!

Brian,

I am very distant from "defaming" Powell. He is possibly being used because he is revered for being that "good soldier."

Where do you suggest this buck stop? The Pentagon? The Oval Office?

What is your experience? Have you spent any time in the D.C. area?

My hope, and prayer, for Powell is that he will be true to his training and his integrity (which I believe to be abundant).

At the least they could make mexico return property
stolen from Americans in 1934!
Deport all CRIMINAL INVADERS or throw them in jail.
Make their country pay for all costs.

Let all lawmakers who vote for CRIMINAL INVADERS
be contacted and let them know you will work to
replace them.

As a conservative, I plan on staying home on election day 2004.

I feel the same way. The Repubs are no better than the Dems on this issue. They all want wide open borders. D*amned depressing.

Dennis Miller had an interesting idea on FOX tonight. How about if we just invite Mexico to become our 51st State? Or simply BUY it? I don't have a problem with it, and certainly not with Mexican women, when put side-to-side with American ones! I'm sure there will be a lot of lonely Mexican guys, though. THINK about it!!!

Mexico will only negotiate for more open borders because "this year approximately $9 billion dollars will be sent to Mexico via remittances, representing Mexico's third largest source of foreign income."
