Secretary of State Colin Powell said Friday after a meeting with Mexico's foreign minister that he believes progress may be possible in resolving long-standing differences with Mexico on immigration issues.

Powell said that at November meetings with Mexican officials, the United States plans to offer ideas that "will demonstrate to the Mexican people and to Americans that we are serious about resolving immigration issues."

McCain said President Bush is eager to see guest worker legislation approved.

He said the issue deserves urgent attention because Mexican workers need a safe means of entering the United States. He noted that 140 Mexicans have died in the desert between Mexico and the United States recently.

"That is a humanitarian issue that needs to be addressed sooner rather than later," McCain said.

What the heck, pray tell, are our issues with Mexico on immigration? Illegals in this country are ILLEGAL. What is there to talk about? Mexico thinks they have the right to move the border? Do they want to negotiate American's rights as a soverign nation? Besides, Mexico did not support us in the UN on the Iraq issue. SCREW'EM. They can take their illegals back and give them a decent life. They have natural resources, oil, land. What they don't have is the American culture and work ethic.....and we have to NEGOTIATE??

What kind of results are we looking for here. Mexico has no serious economy. It needs to sent 2,500,000 people per year into the United states to maintain equilibriums of its population. It needs to annex several U. S. state and their economies in order to have anything.

As a conservative, I plan on staying home on election day 2004.

I feel the same way. I watched the Democratic debate last night and realized that there is no hope. Each and every one of them wants wide open immigration, amnesty for all, and just to add more flavor to the pie they want "free" health care for all. There is very little hope when both parties are actively trying to destroy this country. To top it all off they asked the questions in Spanish and English.
