A former U.S. commander for the Middle East who still consults for the State Department yesterday blasted the Bush administration's handling of postwar Iraq, saying it lacked a coherent strategy, a serious plan and sufficient resources.

I'm assuming this is Zinni? I won't register to read it, but that's already been posted.
What do you think?

What is it with Carter and his love of dictators? viz., Kim Jong Il, Fidel Castro, Aristide, the Sudanese Islamists, Daniel Ortega, the Vietnamese Communists, the Egyptian militarists, the Palestinian leadership, etc.

Watch out for Zinni, Shelton, and Shinseki.......they are going to be slamming and jamming this administration and Rumsfeld big time.
IMHO, none of them are fit to shine Rummy's shoes.

Lest we forget, Zinni has a little axe to grind with the Bush White House. Early in the administration, Zinni was appointed special envoy to the Middle East, shuttling back and forth between the Israelis and the Palestinians. As you may recall, Zinni's "negotiating skills" did nothing to ease tensions; in fact, the violence steadily escalated as Zinni made his rounds. When the Bush Administration began crafting its ill-advised "roadmap" for Middle East peace, General Zinni was no where in sight.
Zinni is publicly auditioning for the Secretary of State job in a Democratic Administration, just as another retired general (Wesley Clark) is positioning himself to become a Democratic Vice-Presidential nominee.
